Personally I like PP most for the realistic ballistics; each projectile is individually simulated and interacts independently with characters and scenery. So if that sniper rifle hits a weak arm of the critter, it will blow it off, but if it hits the shield, well, it will damage the shield, but not the critter hiding behind it.
Well, I don't care that much about ballistics, although I have to admit, the percentage system from Xcom was one of the reasons why I dropped the game.
