I'll think about them.
Thank you. =D
One teleports you to another player and the other teleports the other player to you.
We didn't add a broom to fly on because we saw another mod already did that (and seemingly very well), and also it's very complicated to do. It requires creating new animations, and since neither of us is an animator we tried to avoid doing that.
2) Summoning of a specific mob with raised stats, but guaranteed drops upon kill. Should be pretty taxing on both book and the witch
3) Shadow \ Moonlight protection, a warding spell that renders shadows \ geshtalts passive regardless of player's sanity (game already has Bone Helm wich does exactly this, so that should be doable too)
4) Eclipse \ Crimson Moon, a spell that creates artificial new moon \ full moon night (without progressing actual moon cycle)
5) Demonic Pact spell, that would summon a demon to possess another player. That would require changes to possession system, since if a player that is not a witch gets possessed, they'd have to ask somebody else to perform exorcism on them. Could be a lot of fun tho.
I'll reply in order:
1) We added the player teleportation spells but chose not to add general teleportation for two reasons:
A. It would require making a system for managing the selected locations.
B. Lots of other mods already do this so we thought it was redundant. We tried to be original with this mod and (at least mostly) add things that don't already exist elsewhere.
2) This should be doable in essence, but selecting a mob is problematic in terms of user interface.
That is, how would you specify which mob to summon?
One idea would be to write their name in the spell, but unfortunately the incantation detection system isn't currently equipped to deal with parameters, and also we'd need to add a mapping between the mob name and their in-game ID.
These things make it quite a bit more complex.
3) Protection from shadow creatures is something we considered before. We never implemented that specifically but we did add the Invisibility and Invincibility Potions, as well as the Astral Form.
We can add something like this, but we'd need to think about when and how it would apply. It might be better suited for a potion than a spell.
4) We did raise the idea of summoning the moon but rejected it. We decided that since the witch gets so much power during a full moon, being able to summon it would be too much.
An artificial "Crimson Moon" (or maybe "Blood Moon?") however sounds intriguing, as in generating a new game phenomenon where the night is lit like during a full moon, but in red, and something *different* happens.
That is, you don't get the moon bonuses (perhaps it even drains your Mysticism completely, like an anti-moon?), but maybe something else instead. I see some potential here.
I'd love to know what you think and if you have any other ideas to extend this line of thought.
5) That's a very interesting idea. Having it work on someone who isn't a witch might be excessive and, well, pretty unfair, as they would have to rely on other people's immediate help to survive. Still, we'll talk it over. I like the general idea of a demonic pact thing.
Thank you for all of these ideas.
As I've said on the main page, I'm actually really busy these days so I don't know when I'll be able to get around to implementing new features.
It might need to wait a while.
There's a good chance that we'll add new stuff for the next Halloween at the least, but if I can manage to do so before then, I will.
Aaaaanyway...
Most spells I suggested came in line of witches being inherently evil and\or mischievious, so in most cases the spells would exist to just mess around with mortals harmlesly, like, you know, scaring them with sudden darkness (like Eclipse would cause the world to fall in darkness as if new moon night would came, but in essence it would be purely visual change, time won't actually progress and Charlie wouldn't hunt the players in the dark, it'd be there purely to scare people and make them panic). Messing with your friends is the major source of fun in online games, I used to have a minecraft server with Witchery mod on (would very-very much recommend to try, if you haven't yet, this thing is a BLAST) and catching people with their pants down in a sudden nightfal was fun as hell.
"like an anti-moon" - yup, exactly my point, it would be an artificial moon that won't actualy give any power to witches or cause glommer's flower to bloom, or anything of that line, code-wise - I think it's something to do with colorcubes? Like, that colored overlays that make fullmoon nights all blue and glowy, so that would be this effect and nothing else. Can be used for cosmetic purposes, or to scare people into thinking they've miscounted the days and are now going to miss that darn flower XD
Posession of non-witches might be a nice addition for role-playing and anarchy servers, as social and political dynamics can be a lot of fun on those. Alliances, backstabs, powerplay, all those kinda things. Surely it isn't for everyone, but places like 2b2t do exist, so, yeah, that came from this line of thoughts.
For mob summoning, maybe a sacrificial item can serve as an identifier? Like, if you want to summon a Deerclop, you sacrifice a piece of beefalo wool and a chunk of ice, if you want to summon hound, you'll need a piece of bone and a tuft of beardhair, and so on. That would be a rather expensive ritual, but defeating summoned mob will cause it to drop at least 1 instance of every item in its droptable, so that can have many uses, from farming stuff to just pranking your friends with some summoned tentacles all over their base XD
Yeah, that's how it works, and that's what I used to make the Monochrome ritual and the Astral Form night vision.
If we added something like that then indeed I would use one, but if all you want to do is prank other players then I think Monochrome does that well. =P
Personally I'm more interested in such a red moon phenomenon that does something special, but, well, we'll talk about all of this when we sit to decide on new things to add.
Adding a ritual for every mob seems excessive, and adding the UI to list those rituals would take... long. 😅
Also we have the Spider Horde ritual, so that would make it less special, and if it's just to summon one thing then using the drops from a mob to get the mob in order to get the drops sounds a bit redundant.
While we did add a few things that are more "prankster" in spirit, most of the mod is not like that. I have no problems adding such features but I don't know if I want to spend a very long time on something like that.
