Outside of that - witch bag crushes the server again, I'll send you that log in PM XD
Do you have any other mods enabled, or perhaps some special world generation settings?
The client log is always created, regardless of mods or games or crashing. Just open DST and exit and it'll generate a client log. If that doesn't happen then I think you're looking in the wrong place.
As for the crashes themselves, I can't see how just being subscribed to a mod could have an effect... but even if it did, you said it was Cherry Forest that causes this, right? I'm guessing you mean this mod:
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1289779251
I'm actually subscribed to it too, but it doesn't crash for me. So there's definitely something more here.
Try opening the local files for a saved game from inside DST (there's a button for it) and then go one folder up. That's where the client log should be, unless they changed something.
I know where to look for logs, but the folder is empty. There are directories for backups and another one titled with numbers, and that's all.
And since we both still have interest in these shenanigans, I guess I have no choise than to crash it a few more times XD
It gets generated, even if it doesn't show you an error message when the game closes.
If the mod isn't active it should have no bearing on the game.
Note, however, that DST has two main types of mods: server mods and client mods.
Perhaps you had a client mod active?
Honestly not surprised, this mod breaks pretty much everything and is barely functional by itself. A shame, it has somewhat nice art.
Aaaanyway, it still refuses to generate logs, so I guess this case is closed due to lack of evidence XD
The client log will most likely still created. That's a file on your computer, not something it shows you on the screen.
Well, for now, please try creating a game with only this mod active and see if it still happens.
And how do I know it's this mod - easy, I start a new server with 5 mods active and see if it will crash, if it doesn't - I start a new one with another five and so on until I find the five that does crash it, and then I create servers with only one of those five mods active to narrow it down to the one at fault.
I'll try to crash it a few more times later today, see if it will generate something
I tried reproducing this issue just now. I created an empty world with just this mod and built a Science Machine and then a chest, and they both worked fine.
Can you please specify what exactly you built and why you think it's this mod that causes the issue?
Also, when the game crashes, it's either a server-side issue, in which case you get a "disconnected from server" message there's a server_log.txt file, or it's a client issue, in which case the entire game closes (usually with an error message) and there's a client_log.txt file.
What did you see happening?
I looked at it and they changed something that ruins all containers that are set up in a certain way.
I'll ask them to fix it.
Regarding the "I Am God" spell - yeah, it's broken now.
Honestly, I'm not surprised.
It's really complex, and even though I went to great lengths to make it as robust as possible, it's still very prone to break with game updates.
I don't know if I'll have time to go into it to fix it, especially considering that it's likely to break again. I might try and redo it at some point in some other way that will be less likely to break (if I can think of one), but that'd take a lot longer so it's not likely to happen anytime soon.
It should say it's version 1.2.7.
Can you please tell me which mods you have enabled?
Also if you could provide the client log for the game right after it crashes (*before* running the game again), that would be very helpful.
You can find the client log if you go to your Documents folder on your computer, then Kley, then DoNotStarveTogether. There's a file there called "client_log.txt" - that's the one.
I'm proud to say that I actually didn't need any other mod to help - our mod crashed aaaaaaaaaall on its own!
Apparently any crafting station that has a recipe requiring the player's blood would crash if your blood was in a container such as the Witch Bag.
... and it's been that way since the beginning. 🤦♂️
I was sure I'd tested all combinations of those things.
Oh well. Fixed now! =)
Made my way back to cat statue as soon as I got possessed, and the moment I entered it's activation range - the game crashed.
Also I'd like to know what steps you take to reproduce this.
Is it still happening to you?
Well, I see that the mods you have enabled are "Craft From Chest [DST] Fixed" and "Wirra the Wild Child."
My guess is that if something interferes here it's the former, so I'll try it when I have some time and see if I can recreate it on my end.
Is that the server log from right after the world crashed?
I created a test server for cleaner results with only mods I suspect to be at fault. Hope it helps
I'll let you know as soon as I'll get this all sorted
So you say it happens on any crafting station, right? So it should be easy to reproduce?
If so, then it would be nice if you could check if it crashes on its own or only when our mod is also enabled.
It might be that the changes in our mod are incompatible with the changes in that mod. If that's the case then either that mod's creator or I should be able to come up with a fix.
If it crashes without our mod enabled though then that's just a bug in their code and you should contact them.
Sorry for raising fuzz out of nowhere, my bad ^^*
I'll let you know as soon as I find something
It's wonderful that you're enjoying it so much. ^_^
Regarding the message, what I need is the actual error message, which generally shows up in the server log.
You can find the log on the host's computer: In the game, go to Host Game, then click the wrench button on the very right of the world in the saved worlds list, then "Open World Folder."
There's a folder there called Master, and inside it is a file called server_log.txt.
Getting that file right after you've had a crash would help (it gets deleted if you start the world again).
Since it happens when you approach the statue the crash very likely occurs in our code, but probably because some change made by some other mod clashes with what we made.
If I know what it is, I may be able to make it work despite it, or perhaps point you to the mod that causes the issue (speaking of, a list of the other mods you have active would also help).
I didn't tested it with vanilla gang, guess I'll do it tomorrow, but you're probably right about it being another mod's fault, I do run some server-side QoLs.
And yes, the world has caves.
Also on a side note - you kidding, that has been our favorite mod ever since I first installed it on the server! People still regularly visit corn maze and turn each other's bases into moon craters XD
Oh, another question: did your world have caves in it?
It might be related to another mod you have.
Can you please check two things to help me figure out what the issue is?
1. When the game crashes, tell me what the error message is. If all you see is that you were disconnected with no error message, you can find the message in the server logs (note that they're deleted when you start the same world again).
2. Does this happen with a vanilla character? If so, does it happen with your other mods disabled?
Thanks in advance. =)
When I wrote this mod I did my best to make it as future-proof as I could, but it's inevitable that changes to mechanics would sometimes break things that have certain assumptions when they no longer hold.
From what you wrote, I'm guessing they changed something in the container or building systems.
I'll look into it when I can.
As a side-note, I'm happy to know you're still playing and (hopefully) enjoying our mod. ^_^
Anyone can become a zombie!
Thanks again for the fix. The filters work perfectly. Love the mod! Our Halloween party on DST was a blast
Note that you can use the filters that don't pop up automatically (the new ones we've added that are always there) and they do show the right things. Useful if you don't know what you're looking for or wish to see what the mod has. =)
Enjoy you Halloween party!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO EVERYONE WHO USES OUR MOD!
Thanks a lot for getting out a fix so quickly. Appreciate it very much since I would like to throw a Halloween party for my friends on DST. I am able to put the crafting station down without freezing/crashing now. I noticed the crafting station didn't always show up on the crafting tab, but if I typed "witch altar" in the filter, I was able to find it anyways. So, it wasn't a big problem. It seemed to be fixed right now. Thanks a bunch!
That's what you get when you don't have a proper test framework...
Fixed now, though note that when you go next to a crafting station, the filter that comes up automatically does *NOT* show the right recipes. You need to press the right filter yourself.
I'll fix that later on; for now I just wanted the mod itself to work.
Thanks for reporting it.
Thanks for working on the crafting station bug fix. I tried again after the update. Unfortunately, it is still having some troubles. As soon as I placed the station, my character froze up. Momentarily, the server crashed/got disconnected.
P.S. Happy Halloween!
