Left 4 Dead 2

Buried Deep [1/2]
Kyle's Review of "Buried Deep" - 4/5
A highly atmospheric mish-mash. 4/5 stars.

Buried Deep is one of those campaigns where the author mixed together a bunch of things they like regardless of whether or not they gel together, and I'm a fan. For a mod that combines spooky ghosts, science fiction and extended tributes to random movies, it works surprisingly well thanks to good level design fundamentals.

This campaign is long as hell and surprisingly tough, but the only moment that felt truly unfair was the Map 4 holdout event that doesn't give you ammo before it starts. Difficulty spike aside, maps are easy to navigate and the oppressive atmosphere can make you shiver. The custom sounds and music are what really sell the horror, but visuals are great as well.

My only other complaint is that the constant underground tunnels start to get old after a while. These are good looking tunnels for what they are, but the moments above ground were too few and far between. Still, this is an easy recommendation, especially for horror fans.
