Water Mod
Collecting Water?
Hey i saw some time ago a video where someone was collecting 'water' trough vents to gather hydrogen for your ships.
I don't see it here but i would like to confirm this mod doesnt have anything like this, right?

If so any chance it will be added?
Because for survival it is kinda useless for now as it's pretty much impossible to start with it as you cannot easly get to bottom layers to get some ice

You collect it through collectors, not vents. It should put ice in the collector's inventory.

Like just having a collector in the water it collects ice?

I'm amazed it is actually a thing and you cannot find info about it!

Does your grid have power? Is the collector on? Is the collector actually submerged?

yes, changed to admin actually to test it, fastly build some more power and deeper under the water to test it out but still nothing

You sure you only need water mod?
And it should spawn ice in the collector? (no more additional settings?)

If im being trolled i will be so sad :V

Does something like https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2419631880 work for you? If not, I'm not really sure what to do to help. Might be a bug in the mod?
Hmm im going to play with it a little more today

Works great for me, 1st try. I love this!! Constantly mining ice is something I do not enjoy.

Try this. On the Earth-Like Planet, set the water mod to 1.025. This sets the underground water table to about ~75m below the surface. Drill a well down to the water table, run conveyor tubes down to it, and attach a collector at the end. Viola! The system will bring up all the water (ice) you need.

Be careful though. It stores it in the system as ice, and can quickly fill the whole system with ice.

This method allows all the convenience of the advantages of the water mod, without flooding areas of the planet that are rich in ore.

If you find a way to improve this approach, please let me know.

i just put all my o2/h2 stuff at the bottom of my well and used conveyor sorters to stop ice from clogging all the cargo while still allowing gasses and other items through
(the well is like 500m deep)

Interesting. Next time I play, I'll have to try that. My monitor is broken, so it's been a minute.

As for the well depth, I'm pretty sure it was around 75m. Either way, it works. I'm glad you are enjoying my strategy.

You don't need sorters, just turn "Use Conveyors" off on the Collector blocks. Despite the name, what this actually does is tell the block not to use the conveyor push/pull system to load/unload itself. In this case, it means the collector will fill itself with ice but _not_ push that ice out to other blocks. Other blocks (such as H2/O2 Generators) will still be allowed to pull ice from the block regardless of the setting.
