Help for beginners

Is there a write-up anywhere on recommended settings for massive galaxy? I'm more wondering how many empires to select to get them all to spawn and how many to set as minor powers? And similarly, a guide on the different events / story trees and the triggers?

I usually stick to about 40 majors and 1x minors and 1x pre warp civs

My honest advice is to just play the events as you take them, they're more interesting if you're not gaming them.

Also, to pay attention to the UI and the things that are different from vanilla. The institution buttons for example, or the contact buttons for megastructures.
