Regarding the political focuses, they get 2 paths (continue revolutionary struggle or oppose QI and get back into political mainstream) like most other factions. Forward Bloc (Azad Hind) gets only 1 path.
Regarding the military focuses, wanted to keep it somewhat historically proportional ... in fact, that communist focus branch is almost entirely fictional - had to cast political leaders as generals, borrow some post-independence themes (Red Corridor), and themes from the Soviet Union (Frontovik, No Retreat) and China (People's War). All other military focuses have some historical basis. In reality, once the Soviet Union entered the war on the side of the allies, there wasnt much militant opposition to the British. The only military struggle against the British by was the Azad Hind Fauj. Which is also why the Hindutva and Islamic factions dont even get any military focuses of their own.
But yes, have noted your suggestion - lemme see how best I can incorporate more options for a communist play-through.
Having every focus take 70 days is way too long, especially for the ones that just give one research bonus or spawn a single unit.
Instead of adding 3 new ideologies that almost no other countries use, why not use the base game ideologies to represent each path? Picking the respective focuses in the focus tree could rename the party and replace the leader of whichever ideology is closest to Hindutva (non-aligned or fascist), Nationalist (fascist, since they are supported by Japan), or Islamic (non-aligned, like the islamic countries in the middle east). I suggest this because the current system has some issues:
-Only 2 countries (India and Pakistan) can be Hindutva, Nationalist, or Islamic in game, unless you puppet another country.
-If you are one of those 3 ideologies, any puppet you create currently has no name, no flag, and no leader portrait (even Nepal and Tibet, which you can puppet through focuses).
-It is harder to support or ally a side in WW2 because neither side is your ideology.
-You can't boost party popularity or incite civil wars in other countries.
-There is currently no fascist path.
Sorry if this post is too long, good luck on the mod.
Allow me to return the favour with a long post of mine :)
I originally started out making this mod with a modified map and some 25 large princely states (out of the 500-odd that existed) as separate countries, all subjects of the UK along with the British Raj (being the parts directly administered by Britain) for some historical accuracy and for a different game-play experience of in-fighting within the subcontinent while a larger world war is going on around you (hence the name Shattered Land).
This is also why you'll see a lot of emphasis on princely states in the focus trees.
I ended up making the map but rest of the content was more than what I could manage, so scrapped that and decided to go with just a revised British Raj focus tree to start with.
Not sure if I will get to where I originally intended, but still keeping that option open.
I like the suggestion of renaming party / leader to work around having new ideologies, and the points you mentioned are all valid, let me give it some more thought.
