Forest Brush breaks UI
I've been tracking down a bug where the game UI breaks upon loading a save file from the city view (provided you're loading a save from the same city).

Reproducibility
I cannot reproduce the bug without this mod active. However with this mod active, even if it's only this mod, i've found that the bug will always appear when following these steps:
1. Load an existing save file or start a new city
2. Open pause menu (esc), select “load game” and load any save file from the same city
3. Try to interact with menus like "Info Views", "Areas", "Milestones", any construction menu or quit the game.

Effects
The buttons for menus will turn invisible when hovering over them, and while they can still be clicked on, their popups mostly don't work at all or they are missing backgrounds. Also the pause menu is missing it's backgrounds and some buttons (specifically the ones needed to quit the game) are invisible without even hovering over them first.
Upon repeatedly reloading save files the problem persists unless loading a save file from a different city or returning to the main menu.

Workarounds:
1. don't use this mod
2. never load a game from the city view, always return to main menu first
3. load a savefile from a different city (probably takes a bit longer then 4. but it's easier with the broken UI)
4. return to main menu or quit the game (the buttons still work they're just invisible, or use task manager)

I've only been playing for a few months, but there seems to be a near-unanimous consensus that "bad things" can happen with many mods if you load a second (or the same) game without exiting to desktop. Whether "load" from within game, or exit to main and load, something about the code for many mods also gets reloaded and they don't play well with themselves.

I *always* exit to desktop before reloading a game, and with ~60 mods, I have had few problems (not brought about by myself, anyway). The "Loading Screen Mod" was a life- (and time-)saver when having to repeat this while trying out groups of new mods!

Yep, this mod need to update or rewrite use new "Harmony 2". It not just cause break UI sometime, also drop performance, because now this mod use Harmony 1.2 and it's not compatible with other mods use "Harmony 2". So those problems most time from Harmony 1.2

Ran it without any other mods and its still led to that bug, which indicates its not an incompatibility issue.

breaking my UI too, i tend to activate it just for a moment to use it, and disable it. as it happens frequently

Same thing still happens. It's a shame though, this mod is extremely useful

What I've found with this mod, is the following:
When clicking the tree icon, no meny appeared. Only a x in the buttom corner, to close the menu. I then remembered that I had UI Resolution 1.1.2.4 installed. By lowering the resolution to 80%, I could see the forest menu, and drag it down. Then go back to my UI setting of 110%.
There are however two problems:
1) The UI of Forest Brush, does not scale, like the UI of other mods, when using UI Resolution.
2) The brush only works on the upper left side of the screen, the marker does not appear otherwize.

What UI Resolution does:
It changes the default resolution of the game's UI, to the resolution of your screen. Paradox has made the game, so that the resolution of menus are always at 1080P, no matter your game resolution. UI Resolution fixes this, so the menu follows the resolution of the screen, It also has a slider, so that you can override this, scaling from 50-200% of your screen resolution.

Why is important?
I have a lot of mods installed. Around 50, I think. You know - the usual. But none of these has this problem. I have a 2K monitor, and the Forest Brush tool clearly only works in the 1080P upper left of the screen, so around 2/3.

Maybe this is related with your problems?
