How to get Lightening Essence using the axe or hatchet

I'm able to get all other resources fine but unable to get lightning essence utilizing the elemental pick or hatchet. I've trade both on metal nodes, stone nodes, obsidian nodes, trees, even sulfur nodes. but i'm unable to get lightening essence from any of them. Any suggestions?

You get a little bit from rocks with a pick or hatchet now (more fire with a pick, more stone with a hatchet, some lightning with both). Most of ours comes from unstable ovis though. It's hilarious how much lightning essence and crystallized lightning a high-level one of those gets you.
