Do you know if it is possible to, perhaps, have small villages with them spawn? Or perhaps small camps with them? I love the station they have, and it would be interesting to see them on, say, a volcanic/frozen planet, or see even one in a vanilla village acting like a "fence" for "stolen goods", like a merchant.

I dont know if they are really a THING already, but I havent encountered a settlement with them outside the station. I do have FU, which seems to alter village spawning to some degree.

Any ideas for crops? Glowing crystal fruit or mushrooms? Speaking of crops, do you plan on making a more purple Avali Aeroponics? If it's not too difficult to program, you could even have an inverted aeroponics system where the bottom surface is growable and the plant sprites are flipped. Why not? :D
Anakin  [udvikler] 7. dec. 2018 kl. 14:34
I am working on that along with monsters that can only be found underground.
konelw 7. dec. 2018 kl. 20:43
i dont think its possible to do the upside down aeroponics thing without getting really wacky , but it is possible to make a copy of the plants that are upside down
David.Dragonheart 7. dec. 2018 kl. 23:19
Yeah, dhwty935. While that would be cool to see, I dont think that Starbound can work that way. It would be easier to instead have an FU growbed that can grow upside down, and animate that.

Oh, and here is another idea, Anakin: Since the Lyru require "solidfuel" (using ref ID for that, since I cant spell it for **** otherwise) to craft the base units used for anything, what about also including "supermatter" for blocks, or perhaps for even staff and unique weapon recipes? Just a thought, and with many who have FU, supermatter is easy to get, and otherwise, mostly useless. (Like, seriously... it glows, and with FU, you can extract fuel from it. Thats kinda it)

Sounds good, and yeah the upside down plants are a bit weird but it can be done with a little treaking. Including supermatter for items and blocks would be cool, and I'll see what I can do with that.

This is looking GUUD! I hope to find some sort of mineshafts and underground encounters related to them! [specially some patches, I need to find out how to make these spawns patch to other planet types]

Just throwing out crazy ideas, maybe inverted crops are too weird for the Lyru. :P
I like the idea of them being mostly subterranean and the ways they might see the world differently from topside races.
David.Dragonheart 9. dec. 2018 kl. 11:53
@dhwty935 That isnt a bad idea. Much like moles, which are disoriented by sunlight, maybe the Lyru would have a line about something related to sunlight, and have a disdain towards it. Or perhaps what would be a generic line for rocks, a Lyru would have a more descriptive identification of it. Like for non botanists, most plants look alike, but to those who spent their lives with the plants, they would be able to identify which is which, what makes them different, and their properties.

Ok, I just noticed there's no custom ship yet. Do you have any ideas? I'd say a hybrid-looking ship would fit them. Maybe something with what looks like a laser drill in the front, but they'd get a very long train-like ship to actually fit through whatever is drilled through. (I'm thinking a "The Core" movie, for basic ideas. I mean, it is kinda purple or whatever)
David.Dragonheart 9. dec. 2018 kl. 18:38
On the topic of Ship design, I personally think one with a more... descrete design is a good idea. Since they are thieves, and desire shinies, it would be a good idea to not get seen when getting/hoarding them. A simple, sleek, design would say a lot about them. Like the Indix race, their ship is designed to be nearly invisible to all sensors, and almost impossible to see from a window. Each race's ship, in my opinion, says something about their people as a culture.

Glitch are moddled after a Keep, and such, describe their archaic culture. Floran are mismatched, and cobbled together, symbolizing that they use EVERYTHING they can get their hands on to complete a goal. Avian have pyramids, which show their devotion to god, and shows how religious they still are.

The idea of the Lyru Ships where going to be designed a little bit like submarines but with a twist. Since they come from a planet covered mostly by lava, the submarine design works well. Their ships also have the mining laser.

@David.Dragonheart Your idea about the disdain of sunlight gave me an idea for a clothing item for them. Since some Lyru may have to leave the comforts of their subterranean home such as above ground merchants, exploration of new planets for more shinies, and even trade-offs with any space pirates, they will need some form of special eye protection that mimics the darker conditions of the caves but without it looking awkward on their head. I was thinking maybe something like a pair of goggles with dark lenses (kind of like welder's goggles) that would be suitable for their head shape

Is there any sort of equipment that reacts to light levels? I mean, there are passive buffs like that introduced by frackin races, the floran photosintesis thing. That'd be just in reverse.

You can always make a patch for that on the main mod and let it also be implemented in the frackin races mod, just keep it optional for everyone's interest.
Anakin  [udvikler] 29. dec. 2018 kl. 10:39
@Yanazake At the moment I don't have any light sensitivity built in, but maybe in the future I will include a buff in darkness.
