That seems excessive. Deaths waves are very random, you just got unlucky with the random generator hitting you so often.
I want to avoid mod config for any mods I can. relying on a mod I dont control is asking for trouble. I'm developing my own version just in case.
What I will do is take a a look at putting in a "not before" minimum for when the death waves are calculated so they dont seem so back to back.
BTW the amount is random too. How many colonists do you have?

No matter what I do 5% of 3600 is a big number. Even if random.
What I am going to need to do is set some sort of sliding scale for folks like yourself that play like a city builder, way past end game. I'll need your save to test.
