how to undo the solution a?
Red Schism  [udvikler] 7. apr. 2013 kl. 4:53
Retype the binds, omitting the "crosshair 0/1" sections.

Press "~" in-game and type:
  • bind mouse3 "+zoom"
  • bind mouse2 "+attack2"
[/list]

Another solution if the crosshair becomes bugged. You may bind a fix command to for example E button. Like this: bind "e" "+use; crosshair 1". Now if you want your crosshair simply press E button.

Very nice

Hello, this may be unrelated to the removing crosshair, but how is your scope circular? My scope is lean and skinny, like an oval.

This seems to be a problem only experienced by people running at [1366 x 768]. Apparently this resolution handles the sniper overlay differently than other resolutions. I am working on a fix, and hope to release the fixed version along side with the release of the Professional Scope mod on L4DMaps somethime soon.

For now you can switch your resolution to [1360 x 768] to see the scope in it's proper proportion.

edit:The Professional Scope: Oval Scope Fix edition is up now @ L4DMaps.com. There's a link to it in the mod page description.

You can create the autoexec.cfg by following exact same steps used in the scope.cfg.

Saddly there is no way to truly fix the crosshair issue, as it is caused by a limitation of the games engine. Furthermore, due to the nature of these work arounds it is impossible to place them inside of a .vpk.

Both Solutions listed above only need to be done once and will remain each time you boot the game. Remeber to only use one of the two solutions, not both.

I did solution 2 but it didn't work

Please make sure that each file extension is ".cfg" not ".txt", and be sure that both .cfg files are placed in L4D2's "cfg" folder and not simply in l4d2's root directory.

If you're a Mac user change the all "mouse3" lines from the "scope.cfg" to the equivalent zoom button press for Mac users.

I took me 5 tries before the text file finally became a cfg file but this helped a lot, thanks!

Is there any way to bind the crosshair removal to the same button as the scope? I just think that it would be less of a hassle, so that your crosshair wouldn't disappear everytime you shoved something.

EDIT: Reading it over once more, is that what solution 2 does?

Yes, Solution 2 uses the scope button to toggle crosshair on/off.

For either method you can choose which ever buttons you feel comfortable with. Instead of using shove to enable the crosshair you can change it to E for instance.
Both solutions are mostly examples of functioning workarounds for crosshair toggling.
