VSR Strategy Rules
These rules are agreed upon by the strategy community and are enforced in game. Breaking the rules may result in kicking or banning from VSR games.
Italicized words are defined below.

1. No cheating or hacking

2. No hoverkilling enemy Recycler (including intentionally laying mines on the rec pad while in the air)

3. No intentionally killing pilots waiting for ships on rec pad
  • EXCEPTION 1: Enemy pilots may kill pilots waiting for ships on rec pad
  • EXCEPTION 2: Unintentional pilot kills by AI (i.e. Mortar Bikes, Pulse Stab Assault Tanks, etc) that are ending the game may kill pilots
  • EXCEPTION 3: If a pilot on the rec pad is suspected to have Sniper Rifle, the pilot may be killed

4. No killing AI units that are intended for a player to pilot (especially Scouts and Tanks/Warriors)
  • EXCEPTION 1: Sniping AI units intended for players is permissible
  • EXCEPTION 2: If the AI unit is outside of the base area, killing it is permissible

5. No killing or attacking enemy EMPTY "Empty Scouts" on rec pad
  • EXCEPTION: Players may hop out and steal an Empty Scout for themselves, but then their old ship "becomes" the Empty Scout, and it may not be attacked until piloted

6. No intentional "stuff in stuff"
  • PART 1: Players may not intentionally place units inside of buildings where they can shoot enemies, but cannot be shot at in return
  • PART 2: Players may not maneuver vehicles into enemy structures and attack from inside

7. No attacking the game's first two Scavengers while they are still in the base area

8. No "early rushing" the enemy Recycler (example: if a team wins the first dogfight, the enemy Recycler is not allowed to be hit immediately afterwards)
  • EXCEPTION: If the enemy Recycler is outside of the normal base area, attacking it is permissible

9. No game-throwing
  • EXCEPTION: If the enemy team is intentionally "dragging" out a game that should end quickly, a commander may demolish his/her own Recycler and/or Factory to end the game

10. No base camping
  • EXCEPTION: If a player is already in the enemy base with the intention of destroying buildings or people already in ships, destroying recently-build Recycler units is allowed

Definitions:
  • Rec pad: The area of the Recycler where vehicles are built and drive off from
  • Base area: The flat, buildable area of the map near the original Recycler spawning area (this is subjective on some maps)
  • Cheating: Anything that involves breaking the rules of strat games to gain an advantage over anyone in game
  • Base Camping: Waiting at an enemy base for something to build from the Recycler to immediately destroy it (especially if a player has "laser" as their main weapon)
  • Hacking: Modification of assets to gain an unfair advantage on your opponents
  • Game-throwing: Intentionally affecting the outcome of a strat game by playing significantly below one's skill level or by otherwise intentionally interrupting the natural flow of the game
  • Intentional/intentionally: Doing something on purpose, OR doing something accidently several times
  • AI unit: Any occupied unit that is not human-piloted
  • Hoverkilling: The act of hovering (sustained mid-air floating, flying) while attacking something on the ground, especially buildings and defenses
  • Dogfight: Ship-to-ship combat among players
