I have recently acquire a book that has pretty much includes almost all carriages, though those photos are B&W and are a bit too small.
HUB and RUB were air con sets used on long hauled express services which replace N type carriages in the 1950s.

Take for example this one. HFN. The first letter H stands for Gaurd as there is a guards compartment. F stands for second class and N was the type of carriage. Usually the last letter in the code is the type of carriage.
There is a guide that says what the letters mean.
