Intention
I started this Project because I felt the units, or rather Brigades of this game are too one dimensional and were conflicting with my personal knowledge of the period in question. While modding away I stumbled on more and more things I’d rather have changed like cities basically only differing in their strategic position and their native culture. As an academic I also wanted to output the most historically accurate mod possible and thus I read up a lot on the cultures of the apennine peninsula, en route learning snippets of dead and obscure languages like Phoenician, Oscan and Etruscan.

While I do not expect historical accuracy from videogames and know that it’s important to put gameplay(and programming) issues before this type of flavour, I’ve always appreciated the added value accuracy adds to a game. It fills in the blanks, fills them with meaning. If you order your anachronistic Legionaries to take City 7, then you’re doing just that, pointing virtual chess pieces around a vitual grid… BORING! However if you send your Legio Linteata to burn down Syracuse, then you get a feeling of “what if” and you know the tokens on the display represent real people that lived, fought and died. You’re doing the same thing but there is more to it than what is on screen. That’s how I feel about these things and If you do too or just want a more complex game then this mod is for you. I know I’m limiting my audience here, but hey, I’m not getting paid per DL so I might aswell do something I myself enjoy and I can be proud of.
