The Artillery Sentry

My idea for stats
I think we should make this with a skinned Dispenser and Teleporter too, and give Engie another weapon for the PDA. This weapon should not be able to be used with the gunslinger.

For the buildings, compared to stock:
+20% health on Sentry and Dispenser
+10% damge from Sentry bullets
-10% build rate on all buildings
-10% firing rate on Sentry, -10% healing and ammo from dispenser
-20% health on Teleporters
Level 3 Sentry fires -50% rockets
-10% repair rate on sentry

Hypothetical ideas
Since this appears to be more of a defensive sentry, and they way I think the stats should be (but take my ideas with a grain of salt)
+25 health on wearer
-10% move speed on the wearer, -20% when carrying a building

These are just my thoughts on it so take them with a grain of salt.

tl;dr More defensive attributes in a PDA for engie

-20% when carrying and -20% fire rate but normal move speed on wearer. could also fire farther?

i think this is an amazing idea but , the way you get the mini sentry is through the gunslinger , what wrench or gun should you get this from, and what should its stats be, the olny one i can think of is if its a gun you shouldnt be able to equip it with the gunslinger or if you do itll be a random choice between the mini sentry and artillery sentry

I don't think that would really be that good of an idea. Having a wrench make the sentry instead of the PDA is a good idea, but the random chance is what takes this idea from bad to good.

So this is a major game changer for the engi and i think it is a good idea to shake things up, but how is this going to effect balancing and strategy of other classes. I feel like it may be to powerful and be like the ambassador for the engineer, so (this is just a opinion) maybe give it some weakness to sappers or slower aiming, ect. But still not nerf it to red tape recorder levels of BAD, sorry, I MEANT TO SAY SHI*. Soooo yea, that's just some idea's.:cozybethesda:

Sapper weakness and way less armor from behind
Apex 18 Jun, 2019 @ 11:25am
when you build it you use 150 metal not 130

How about
-20% lock on speed
-15% fires speed
+10% damage
25% slower rocket reload
+15% health on sentry
On player
+25 health
15% slower when carrying sentry

I like this, but what about instead of 15% slower when carrying a sentry, -10% speed overall?

Fair enough but you should still be slower when carrying it since it's like a *heavy* artillery gun

Understandable. I do like that idea

I think it could be like a reverse Gunslinger, since it's defensive.

In my opinion, I think the stats could look like:

+40% Damage for the bullets
+30% Longer range
+50% More ammo
+60% Rocket speed
-50% Damage fall off (only for rockets)
Rockets do much more damage (200ish at very close range, because the Soldier in the video dies immediately)
-50% Less rockets
-Rockets take 6 seconds to reload
-15% Fire rate
-20% Build rate
-25% Less healing from all sources
-20% Move speed when carrying
-5% Move speed overall
Cost of making is now 155

I'm not a game designer, and sorry if this is either under/over powered.

PDA is the way to go. No point in adjusting another part of Engi's kit or making another secondary.

On the Mini-Sentry: Mini and Lv. 1 share the same model. This is the reason why you can't use mods to replace the model for lv1 and mini-sentry at the same time. HOWEVER! There is a way around this. Given the fact that the official Mini-Sentry looks different via size scale and decals, they could do the same if they made a Mini-Artillery model. As such the Gunslinger and Call Man should be able to work together. But only if it's accepted by Valve as an official in-game item. I believe it'd be far too much work for the creator to figure out how to adjust both models independently in a singular mod given the fact that otherwise it'd just cause mod collision.

As a whole, I love the idea and have been wondering why they don't have alternate PDA's with different sentry types. Given how things have been handled with additions. I trust the TF2 team to implement it correctly *if we ever get another update*.
