bk3k's Inventory

Description
THIS REQUIRES NEW CHARACTERS. YOUR OLD CHARACTERS WILL NOT WORK! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LOAD OLDER CHARACTERS - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
^Limitation won't apply if using Open Starbound or xStarbound (See pinned discussions for details)

This is bk3k's Inventory. This adds far 3x more raw space per tab while adding several more tabs - and most importantly - better organization.

  • Main - what you expect, but many things relocated out
  • Armory - weapons(non-consumable), armor, epp, etc
  • Materials/Liquids - what you expect
  • Furniture - usable objects mostly
  • Decorations and Lighting - pretty obvious
  • Crafting - what you expect
  • Food - no seeds!
  • Farming -seeds, beast feed, tree saplings
  • Hobby - instruments, codex, fishing, a few things moved from main to get them out of the way
  • Vehicle - Stand alone vehicles, modular mech parts

That's 10 tabs (5 for vanilla) that hold 120 items each (40 for vanilla)!
Still I think you'll appreciate the organization even more than the abundant space. This is as much a "quality of life" mod as it is for hoarders. Once you've used it for a while, you'll understand. For example farmers don't need to sift through edible food to find their seeds. Neither will anyone need to sift through seeds to find edible food. Your musical instruments will always be easy to locate(and you have no reason to leave them behind). Etc.

The base mod is mostly vanilla styled. Obviously both taller and wider, with some elements moved around. Also added a tiny bit of space in between items so they feel less crowded. I wanted to do more, but sadly you cannot script this... it is hard coded.

Inventory size patches available

Interface patches available

Compatibility
  • "Frackin Universe" - yes and FYI their official server uses this mod
  • "Tatsu's Inventory Interface Redone" - no and I'm not "fixing" this
  • All the patches and interface mods I listed here - obviously yes
  • Any other inventory mods (including the inventory interface) - no
  • Any other sort of mod that doesn't outright replace (instead of patch) player.config - yes

Notes
Some mod weapons may end up in the main tab, until I add their "category" to the armory instead. Please report any mods that need their weapons moved (or other things in the wrong tab) here

That thread also has instructions to manually convert your old characters. Which is what you're gonna have to do if you ignored my big, blue warning at the top.

Recommended:
I haven't updated in a while, but there is a patch here that covers a lot of categories I don't, including some stuff from more mods.

Even if/when I get around to updating and include those, you might as well leave it subbed too, because they still might find more that I haven't got.

Check out my other mods too
including the side-actionbar mod pictured in the screenshot above

If you need/prefer to manually install mods instead, my mods are available on the Official Starbound forums.

Hi! The mod randomly freezes the game upon saving the world (just two mods, this and Frackin Universe). The game log does not show anything suspicious. The repro steps are pretty reliable - start the game with a new character (I've tested with X'I) and save-n-quit before talking to sail. If you beam down the planet saving works most of the time, but not always. This is a super bummer as I got really used to this mod, last time I've played was around 2022 though (with no issues). Is this a know issue?

I will give you money if you add a search function for my own inventory. How much money do you want?

Hi there idk if its a issue with the mod or the reskin but currently a bug exists where items in the toolbar are not highlighted in the inventory; makes it tricky when some items have the same sprites

Dude, request a version, or a patch to keep the stack cap at the original instead of 9999. Or can you teach us how to modify the server configuration file so that the server also accepts the 9999 stack limit in the container?
Recently, playing on a friend's server, we installed the GIC mod, every time for a large number of loot to have to frequent back and forth between the ship and the ground made us very upset, this situation continued until we found this very, very, very useful mod, but one day someone found that a lot of GIC currency stacked on his body disappeared into thin air. We just found out that this mod and the server have some bad compatibility.
The above content is translated through the web page, and I hope you can understand the place that is not smooth
It's Chinese New Year. I wish you a happy New Year.

I haven't incorporated it, so what would happen is weapons in the main tab. So it wouldn't be "incompatible" per say.

However if you look above at what I recommend, there's a patch for this mod to incorporate Galaxy in Conflicts (and others I haven't gotten around to).

Is galaxy in conflict compatible with this mod?

@bk3000 ive been very tempted to try those out actually!, i made a separate install of starbound and went thru manually downloading all of the mods for the multiplayer save to keep them all apart completely haha, took about an hour of renaming files but hopefully worth it LOL. thank you for the advice tho the only reason i hadnt tried open starbound yet is i didnt think many mods were compatible/havent looked super into it to see how itd work with my current game setup, but since ive separated the install i play and the one i play with others im much more open to trying it!

@Kassian
I'd be surprised that the game is going to mess with data of a character you didn't actually load. In any case, if you're gonna swap back and forth, you might consider Open Starbound or xStarbound, because they've apparently fixed/improved various things in the game engine and one of them is the that it AUTOMATICALLY fixes such issues.

But if you aren't going to try either of those out, you'll want to fix the character. There are different methods in the top pinned thread (right above the comments)

Of course you might even just load Open Starbound/xStarbound just long enough to let them fix your character.

Just want to make a second comment to stress that i did not try to load the existing character WITH this mod, i had a separate new character i used to play with the mod. The broken character is loaded from a completely different mod set without this mod, but it still broke this character.
