**** NOTE: May 9, 2017: The new 0.5 update has likely broken this old Doors & Windows mod. It is now a legacy mod, usable largely only on older branches, earlier than 0.5 (probably 0.2 - 0.4, but there are no guarantees). Because vanilla doors & window shutters now do most of the things that this old mod did (and even more), I will not be maintaining it anymore. Thank you for all the support & feedback on this mod over the past several months, I hope you enjoy my others, most of which I am working hard to maintain and keep live as the game grows. ****

Hi all.

My latest mod brings to Medieval Engineers something people have been asking for a looooong time: working, usable doors and window shutters!

This door functions based off of Keen's "Wooden Gate" mechanism. I shrunk that down and adjusted it so that only one door is visible. I'm really happy with how it looks and works. The door comes with a thin "frame" around it, and the whole thing is designed to be buried within a wooden or stone doorway. All of the framework disappears inside the wood or stone wall except for a subtle "door jamb." The door jamb gives the door a logical place to close up against, instead of just air. Point at the door handle and press the 'F' key to open/close the door. The door also connects to Keen's new Locking/Ownership system, so only friends can enter.

This door comes in four varieties: (1) rectangular for the wooden doorway; (2) round-topped for the narrow stone doorway; (3) round-topped angled to fit the 2 basic curved-wall doorways; and (4) double-doors to fit the extra wide stone doorway. I also have included a hinged window shutter that opens vertically and appears to be propped open by a rod bolted into the side of the wooden window frame, plus a set of traditional side-opening window shutters.

I plan to make doors to fit in the remaining varieties of stone doorways in the game. This mod also is complete with Blueprints and Schematics so all versions are fully buildable in Survival.

*** BACKUP DOOR LOCK: If the game sees any dynamic thing lying on the ground on the inside of a door, the door won't open or close. To lock your doors, simply close them and then drop any dynamic thing (wood block, iron bar, plate, whatever) on the ground by the door. The door becomes unopenable. It can only be entered from the outside by being destroyed. ***

To destroy the door and get into a building, you need to attack the frame. This is what the game recognizes as the actual structure. When you attack the doorway that the frame is embedded in, the frame also takes damage. I have the integrity set to 2000. It's hard to hit down a door with a sword, but easy with a projectile. Also, if you have a large stone, you can pick it up, run with it, and then throw it against the wall to damage the wall & break the door. I kind of like that, it feels realistic.

Hello, it is possible that you can bring the Mod Doors and Windows to run again. I like it very well but unfortunately no longer under the rubric:
Exclude from all programs.
Would be very pleased if you would make the MFG Lord Acer

*** As of May 9, 2017 this is a LEGACY mod. It likely does not work with version 0.5, or newer versions that come afterward. It will only work on older branches of the game that you download from Steam. NOT the latest branch. ***

Hey BH. The building system for mods got all messed up when the new Research system came in. For now there really is no research to do for these doors -- you can make them immediately when you start a new world. Once the devs fix this, I'll go back and fix up the system so that you need research in order to make these.

Cant seem to get the research blueprint to work in survival. Same way i leanred all of the other research parchments doesn't work with this door research parchment. Am i doing something wrong?

Keen's new key/lock system works in my door mod perfectly. You can allow/refuse players or clans. It's pretty seamless & cool.

Will a actual lock system be able to be implemented it looks like there is some kind of "key system" in the vanilla gate blocks.?
