King Dedede

King Dedede returns to Aether

This King Dedede is the classic Dedede boss seen throughout the Kirby series.
Like the my previous boss (The Yellow Devil), this character is playable, and attacks
go on cooldowns when played as.

This boss can also go offstage. He cannot fall into blaztzones, however.

King Dedede also has a hurtstun mechanic like the Yellow Devil, however the actual
hurtstun works differently. When in hurtstun, King Dedede can actually be knocked
around by attacks. It is also possible to stun Dedede briefly when he's hit hard
enough.

King Dedede cannot move by simply moving left or right. He moves by using his
attacks.

King Dedede can also stand on platforms, and drop through them down is hard
pressed, or when down is held while in air.

Masked Dedede is also included, givng upgrades to all his current moves and giving
him 3 new ones. He's also harder to stun in this form. Press the mask button on the
css to turn it on or off. Their is also a 3rd option to have it occur as a 2nd phase.

--- Moveset ---
Jab/Ftilt: Dedede Tackle
The classic tackle move everyone knows about. When attack is held down, Dedede
will keep walking. The walk cycle automatically ends when he reaches an edge.
*Masked Upgrades*
The tackle goes farther and hits harder.

DTilt: Inhale
While inhaling, attack or special can be held down to make him contiune inhaling.
The attack will automatically end is no one is inhaled for too long. Dedede can
inhale up to 3 opponents, which can be spat out (occurs automatically and not
manually) left or right. Has the same walking mechanic as the tackle.
*Masked Upgrades*
Gains the additions from his enraged phase in Kirby's Dreamland 2. Dedede moves
forward slightly while inhaling, and will spit a star after inhaling long enough if an
opponent was not inhaled. The time before spitting is also shortened.

UTilt: Dedede Hammer
King Dedede will run forward with his hammer up while attack is held down.
He will swing his hammer down if attack is let go or if he reaches an edge.
A star is also created from his hammer if comes into contact with ground or
platforms, but it doesn't cause knockback or hitpause. Dedede can also jump while
running. He can still hold his hammer when attack is held down, but he will also
swing when he lands.
*Masked Upgrades*
Hammer hits harder. Dedede cannot flinch (but can still go into hurtstun) during
the attack. If Dedede jumps, his hammer will create an electric shockwave instead
of a star upon ground collision.

Jump: ...I dunno, you'll figure it out
A jump that damages players when falling. 2 stars are also created when landing,
which will be able to damage players for a brief moment.
*Masked Upgrades*
Jumps are faster and jump can be held down to jump up to 2 more times.

Any Special: Fly
King Dedede bloats up with air and can start flying. He can only deal damage when
flying forward. If attack is pressed or he's been inflated for long enough, he'll release
a puff of air. Dedede can be pushed back from other attacks while flying.
*Masked Upgrades*
Cannot be pushed back.

--- Masked Moveset Additions ---
FStrong: Dedede Spin
Dedede charges up a series of spins, where they get faster and more powerful shortly.
He can move left and right slowly and, to make the move useful when platforms are
around, holding up or jump will cause Dedede to rise upwards. Dedede cannot go offstage
while spinning, even if he's in the air. He'll get dizzy afterward, briefly making him vulnerable.

UStrong: Missiles
Dedede's hammer opens up and fires 3 missiles consecutively. These missiles are always fired
up to down. Shares DStrong's cooldown.

DStrong: Flamethrower
Dedede's hammer opens up and spews forth flames. It lasts for a while, but shield can be
pressed to end the flamethrower early. Shares UStrong's cooldown.

My first character to have a full set of 31 alternate colors... and that's only because their
are so many screams.

*Villager & Kitimek also have unique interactions with Dedede's stars. When they are
thrown, they work like stars spat out by Kirby. They always stun Dedede unless otherwise
mentioned in one of his attacks.

Another little thing, I like how the Tackle doesn't have a cooldown. I'unno if it was intentional or not, but it'd be nice for it to stay the same regardless.

Also, another suggestion (if you can code it), make it so after a few off-stage bounces, Dedede forcefully returns to the map. Why? You can just kinda stay off-stage while playing him, this could be seen as VERY obnoxious when somebody finally gets him stunned and you just. Wait it out off-stage.
ANOTHER change; NERF Dedede Spin. I understand that it's MEANT to be broken(??? Is it??), but the fact that using it practically guarantees you take a stock just seems annoying for PVP. (I wouldn't know, it's just something I thought.) A solution would be to
1. Reduce the time it's active / reduce the knockback. Hell, increase the cooldown if you must.
2. Make you vulnerable for longer (preferably combined with the first one)
alright well here's an idea for the directional special moves that came to mind because you added his possessed state as an alt.
maybe pressing down+special would cause dedede to temporarily enter his "berserker" state as seen in dreamland 2 where his basic attacks are upgraded to be more explosive for a limited time.
side special could also be that unique exploding hammer toss move seen only in dreamland 2.

I do recall Kirby Super Star Ultra had Dedede walk back a few steps to warn the player that he's attempting to inhale. Maybe I should include that.

@Chris: Yeah, easily the most annoying thing the AI does is inhale with no windup, spit you in the opposite direction offstage, & then use another inhale at ledge to finish you off.

@Needlewind Found out why the freeze glitch happens, and attack cooldowns are the culprit. I can definatly fix this though.

And as for the inhale glitch, by "just as they get sucked in," do you mean by a frame before they get sucked in?
And also, while I'm talking about it, their is actually another glitch with this move that involves a crash. It happens when the opponent lands after being freed and they don't tech and the crash message says something about dust effects not being loadable? I have an idea on how to fix this, but I dunno if it'll work.

Another glitch caught.
If Masked D3 is hit with an ice freezing move during his topspin attack, the move will glitch and make D3 invulnerable for the rest of the fight.
