Muzzle Before Flesh

Description
Operators stay in Low Ready when behind their buddy. More specifically, this mod reduces the over-the-shoulder shooting threshold to 0.2 meters.

Not recommended for shield formations, since the second operator must move out from behind the shield to engage targets.

Note: In CQB terms, 'Muzzle Before Flesh' means your muzzle should always clear your buddy before shooting (if I were to define it in my own terms — no shooting if you can see them in front of you). But in-game, this mod doesn't strictly enforce that, and I have no idea how to implement this at the current version of the game. I just thought it had a nice ring to it and captured the idea, even if the behavior isn't fully supported yet.

I can't make it 0.0 because it'll end up with two barrels down when you accidentally had your operators phase through each other. Glad you had it fixed on your end 👍

Small apology for my comment below by the way, I found another mod that copied the entire human_params file. It works like a dream now! I can also recommend just putting it at 0.0 to get rid of the mechanic entirely. Love the work!

Foobar, I don't mind. My mods aren't that sophisticated anyway.

Hey, man. I'd like to add this mod as a required item for my unit mod in the workshop page with your permission.

Deluke, the mod will just make them go Low Ready when stacked close enough. Please read the note in the description and see the demo video.

This mod seems to be mostly placebo? I did not notice any change, so I did some testing. I changed the threshold to 0.0 and gradually made it bigger in steps of 0.1.

After running the same test over and over again, I noticed that this value has zero impact on the distance the units start shooting over each other's shoulders. I have not found any noticeable difference between vanilla, this mod and even different values.

How did you test this exactly? I really want to make this work.

I don't think there's a way to do that.

But you can somehow work around that when you get comfortable with the spacing. See example image [imgur.com]

Is there a way for this mod to make it so that stacking behind shield units uses the vanilla shooting threshold? That way shield formations aren't nerfed.
