KelTec PR-57

Description
A compact, lightweight weapon holding 20+1 rounds. Weighing only 400 grams unloaded it's easy to put it in a pocket (or ankle holster) and forget about it until it's needed.

Just be aware of the slow reloading, as you insert rounds one-by-one through the breach into the internal magazine.

My goal with weapon mods is to add weapons that fill a niche not readily available; In this case a gun you can use a non-primary weapon that won't take up much of your carry capacity, has a little bit more stopping power and easier handling than an M9 but a drawback that prevents it from being an overly-good primary gun.

FAQ

Does this mod work in B41?

No, B42 only.

Is this mod compatible with Rain's firearms?

Yes, the PR-57 supports attachments from Rain's Firearms but does not require Rain's Firearms to work.

Is this mod compatible with <other firearm mod>?

The weapon is built using only vanilla features so probably.

Can this mod be added to/removed from existing games?

Yes, but when adding the gun will only show up as loot in new map areas.

Are you going to add support for stripper clips?

No, because that would require too much reworking of the reloading code because the base game doesn't support multiple reload options. I may revisit this once B42 firearms are more stable.

Why does this gun use 5.56mm rounds instead of 5.7mm?

Because I didn't want to add a whole new ammo type just for one gun. Both rounds use the same diameter bullet and look similar[dzq8as2o6rtz2.cloudfront.net]. Sure, a 5.56mm round has approximately four times more kinetic energy... but if "battery" can simultaneously be a AAA and a heavy duty lantern battery then a 5.56x45mm round works as a 5.7x28.

(This mod also adjusts the weight of a 5.56mm round from 25 grams to a more accurate 10grams, otherwise the weight of the ammunition ends up higher than the weight of the gun!)

Does it fit in an ankle holster?

Yes; it can placed in normal holsters, shoulder holsters, ankle holsters and any modded attachment points that support HolsterSmall items.

Is this weapon appropriate for 1993?

The distinctive reloading system was developed in the 1920s, the PR-57 was developed in the 2020s, so on average this weapon is appropriate for any game set after 1970s.

I suppose it does give players something to do with all the 5.56 ammo before finding a M16. If you thought that 9mm pz revolver style reload auto pistol is a good idea, all of the 2 C96 mods are out of date and use mags for some reason. Would be a good fit for you considering your other pz gun mods.

@Cazic I considered that, but ultimately decided on 5.56 mainly so giving it different range/damage numbers wouldn't feel mismatched with existing 9mm handguns, as well as making it feel a bit more distinctive. It's not perfect, but short of adding an entire extra ammo type for one gun there isn't a perfect caliber choice.

Why not just have it load 9mm? That way the mod would be clear of rifle ammo weight and it's generally more dangerous spawn locations, while also fulfilling a deficient gap due to the lack of a 9mm revolver in vanilla. For those who would rather not have to deal with mags, but also have plenty of 9mm. Unless I'm missing something, I've only ever played b41.

@Aacad the main Lua file in 42/media/client. Do not erase the whole file, just the bit you don't want.

I hate patches that change the weight of 5.56mm
