Murranji's Land Encounter Mod (for IE and Roc)

Beskrivelse
Description

This mod adds additional campaign map interactivity by implementing a new system of land encounters, based on the idea of the original sea encounters by CA. The mod updates and extends the feature to provide varied encounters with additional functionality and challenges.

When installed, new map markers will gradually appear across the map offering you the chance to engage in a land battle against different cultures, or even to challenge unique and powerful themed armies. Watch for the lookout tower with a flaming beacon surrounded by cages, and send your army to investigate when one appears.

The key features of the mod are:

New Land Based Encounters

The mod adds almost a hundred and twenty new map marker locations to the Immortal Empires campaign map that will spawn in over time. Interact with a marker to find what encounter awaits you. Gain rewards that can include bonus treasury, ancillaries and experience for winning a battle.

The mod is compatible across Immortal Empires/Immortal Empires Expanded and the Realm of Chaos (72 locations).

Varied Enemies (Mod Enabled)

Cultures you can face include a mix of vanilla factions that are found across the world, as well certain modded factions (OvN Araby and Fimir) can appear in randomised battles if you have those mods enabled. Encounters can also include some mod enabled units in their armies for Bretonnia and Greenskins.

Enemy forces will scale in difficulty across turn time. Enemies will primarily be weaker in the early game, and stronger in the late game, with subsequently scaling rewards. In the early game you will face more common and persistent enemies, with rarer races appearing for harder battles later in the game.

New Customised Armies

You can be challenged by 16 unique and powerful themed armies in the spirit of the rogue armies of Warhammer 2, combining units of certain races together to make a unique challenge.

These armies have a chance to appear based on the region of the world you are fighting in and grow in power over time, so get out and explore to find them all.

View Enemy Forces Before Combat

Updated from the sea encounter system - the script for this feature has been written from scratch to allow players to view the strength of the enemy force they will be facing before choosing to fight or flee.

There has been fixes made as of v1.0.9 to address potential multiplayer desyncs.

How fast do they spawn?
18 markers at the start of the game and 7 markers each turn after, there is a 5-10 turn cooldown after a marker has spawned before it appears again.

Can I suggest changes or additions for new army types?
Sure - please suggest in the comments below.

Balancing? Too few markers? Too hard/too easy?
Please let me know in the comments below if you think there are too many or too few land markers, if the enemies are too hard or too easy for the timing, or rewards balancing etc.

Bugs
A script break from another mod that occurs during campaign loading can cause errors with the markers that will prevent them from loading - if the markers do not display please check the script log to check which mod is throwing a script error, or you can comment below for help to identify the conflict.
Araby will be led by an Empire General and Fimir are led by a Chaos Lord due to limitations with modded factions.

Suggestion.
Add Mod Configuration mod compatibility with options focusing on modding the frequency of spawns, difficulty levels, size of armies in the encounters (also influenced by the difficulty levels) and so on...

@Devooon in case you haven't figured it out yet I think that's the dynamic disasters mod

I’ve got quite a few mods enabled, and yet none of them mention this mechanic, so I am asking if your mod is what does this: Brettonia now has a ‘crusade’ mechanic and will spawn TONS of peasant armies at random times, with an alert that a “crusade is coming - let’s hope we aren’t on the wrong side of it!” Or something along those lines. I love it, but can’t find any of my subscriptions mention it

Does the AI engage with these encounters on the campaign map? I dont think they do anything with the sea encounters unless maybe by accident

Thanks - sounds like they may have amended how items are awarded through incidents in that case, I will follow up.

You might need to update this after the recent item changes. I was playing a multiplayer campaign with a friend last night and I got the Armour of Tarnus as Gelt, but it has no rarity assigned to it, just empty brackets after the name. CA claims that the item is working on their end and it came as a reward from one of your encounters, namely in the northwest of Nongchang if that helps.

Please update :)
