Description
-- A german inspired set of standard gauge (1435mm) tracks at various speeds and usages --

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

track types included are as follows;

-- Siding / Yard track [100km/h vmax]
a basic track with no train control hardware installed, to be used for yards and sidings. the track ties are modeled after a kind of metal tie that can be found in germany, but specifically ones found around the Leipzig Hauptbahnhof

-- Mainline tracks (+ guide rail variant) [160km/h vmax]
meant to be used for the majority of moderate speed rail corridors, equipped only with PZB (Punktzugbeeinflussung) hardware to allow for moderate speeds up to 160km/h. modeled after commonly seen tracks throughout germany

-- Standard Balastless tracks (+ guide rail and soundproofing foam variants) [160km/h vmax]
basic balastless tracks that are only equipped with PZB hardware, usually used for tunnels and through-city viaducts. modeled largely after tracks used within the Leipzig city tunnel and Berlin river Spree viaduct

-- LZB upgraded mainline (+ guide rail variant) [250km/h vmax]
mainline tracks that have been upgraded with newer concrete ties and LZB (Linienzugbeeinflussung) wire loops to allow for higher speed usage. these tracks are still limited though due to having standard gravel balast. modeled largely after the 200+km/h corridors between Leipzig, Berlin, and Dresden.

-- ETCS upgraded mainline (+ guide rail variant) [250km/h vmax]
upgraded mainline tracks that have ETCS (European Train Control System) hardware installed, they are still limited by having gravel balast but still allow for higher speed rail travel than basic PZB hardware. modeled after the same tracks as for the LZB variants, but simply without the wire

(i absolutely would love to model the ETCS sensor boxes on this but with how far they are spread out and how modding works for Nimbyrails, i can't reasonably implement it (just pretend there are little yellow boxes by the tracks every few hundred meters or so lol))

-- LZB Balastless tracks [300km/h vmax]
concrete balastless tracks designed for high speed travel, equipped with an upgraded version of LZB hardware (CIR ELKE-II hardware to be specific) which allows for a top speed of 300km/h as opposed to the 280km/h limit of standard LZB hardware or the flat 250km/h limit of having gravel balast. modeled after some of the (very few) ICE corridors in germany

-- ETCS Balastless tracks [320km/h vmax]
high speed concrete balastless tracks, "equipped with" sufficient ETCS hardware to allow for an even higher operating speed of 320km/h (the maximum speed of trains run within the EU and Europe at large). once again modeled after some of the ICE corridors in germany, just this time without the LZB wire loops

(and again, just pretend the ETCS boxes are there since i can't really mod them in myself with this)

-- 'ETCS - ICE inspired' [320km/h vmax]
while functionally identical to the other ETCS equipped balastless track. this is specifically modeled after the Leipzig-Erfurt ICE corridor, which seems to be constructed in a fairly unique and visually striking way that i simply could not resist including into this mod

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

all textures are my own, but thanks to TKR for their trackmod which i used for reference in how to structure and write this, and thanks to kaaai for pointing out the actual speed limit of level crossings in germany

additionally, barring fixing any issues with the track prices or angle speed factors which i encourage you all to notify me about, this mod is finished it's major development and i intend to move on to making new things for this game in the future <3

{ update 1.5 - meta unification }

this is just a smaller update to unify the naming convention of the mod with my others, both in game and in the internal texture names, not much else should be really noticed from this though aside from a cleaner looking track menu :3

{ update 1.4 - finalization }

this is a major update to add a higher degree of realism and use to the mod as a whole, various existing tracks have had their speeds altered (hopefully to not too much of a degree that it causes problems-), texture improvements have been made, and various things i've learned about train control systems in germany have been applied to the presentation and structure of the mod to make it more realistic

the main thing to keep in mind is that the standard mainline and balastless track speeds have been reduced to 160km/h. this is because their train control systems can't handle more than that in real life

beyond that i tried to make my other additions and changes conflict as little as possible with existing saves

(more details are in the update notes since apparently there's a 1000 character limit lol)

{ update 1.3 }
again mostly minor texture improvements, details in the changelog notes

likely don't expect any more updates for a while or at all after this, mostly as i don't see what's left to do with this mod in particular

{ update 1.2 rolled out }
mainly just minor adjustments to textures and angle speed factors after some playtesting (also includes the 160km/h level crossing limit now)

more details in the changelog notes

i knew the level crossings had a speed limit below 250 but i didn't really have a good way of finding out specifically what it was, so i decided to just make it 'anything except ICE'

i'll likely make a few changes after some playtesting, and during that i'll lower the level crossing speed

thank you for the information and im really glad you like the mod :33

I'm not sure, how accurate or only "inspired" by the german railways you want to do it, but level crossings above 160kph aren't allowed IRL. All the tracks look good though, nice work :)
