Description
Hello!

this is my first custom unit mod and I am excited to share it with the community.

what does this mod do?

- adds new artillery units to the game for custom battle and campaign.
- see below for which races are currently affected (i will be making more artillery units in the future).
- custom artillery crews are added where required. check out the images to see my nurgle mutant crew.

Where can i recruit these new units?

1. High elf Sapherian bolt thrower:
- recruited at the mage's tower buiding tree

2. dark elf Ghrondian bolt thrower:
- recruited at the sorceress tower building chain

3. Nurgle Emetic amalgams:
- recruited from nurgle's unit pool, gifts of chaos (nurgle's gifts) as warriors of chaos or daniel's nurgle temple building chain.
- nurgle generates more from his cyclical tree of decay building (the one that makes rotflies and chosen).

4. Nurgle entropic carronade:
- recruited from nurgle's unit pool, gifts of chaos (nurgle's gifts) as warriors of chaos or daniel's nurgle temple building chain.
- nurgle generates more from his cyclical tree of decay building (the one that makes rotflies and chosen).

5. High elf phoenix fire mortar
- recruited at the mage's tower buiding tree

6. Dark elf Dragon's maw mortar
- recruited at the sorceress tower building chain

Who gets what?

1. High elfs:
- Sapherian bolt throwers
- phoenix fire mortar

2. dark elfs:
- Ghrondian bolt throwers
- dragon's maw mortar

3. Nurgle:
- emetic amalgams
- entropic carronade

4. warriors of chaos:
- emetic amalgams (not recruitable as villitch, azaezel or valkia)
- entropic carronade (not recruitable as villitch, azaezel or valkia)

5. daemons of chaos (daniel)
- emetic amalgams
- entropic carronade

Future plans:
- moar artillery :D
- feel free to recommend races/ factions to me

Compatibility:
- compatible with vast majority of mods
- let me know if you find an incompatibility

hemlo moddy is updated changes are:

i) added a poisonous vortex to the explosion from the nurgle carronade in my testing its performance is greatly improved

ii) increased accuracy and slight increase to cost for high elf and dark elf mortars

yus i am thinking about a nature themed artillery piece for wood elves. i am still working on the big mod i mentioned a while back though, almost done.

for me, balancing is always one of the most difficult parts of modding and i appreciate your feedback. the low accuracy is due to the missile spread, shell spin and calibration distance. I wanted to make a magical artillery piece that would create a "rain of fire"/ D-day bombardment pattern sacrificing accuracy for large and deadly aoe. this is contrasted with the sapherian/ghrondian bolt thrower with high single target damage. Regardless, I want what i create to be fun to play with and will play around with the calibration area and marksmanship stats to hopefully make them funner to play with.

on the topic of balancing they are meant to be more for aoe purposes than single target so the single unit test with darkshards is not where this unit is strongest. They excel against large armies with lots of infantry and in my testing can accrue more than their custom battle purchase cost in terms of value before the two armies close into melee. I find that moving armies actually help them deal more damage because of the spread of the projectiles.

@DocHolliday, thanks for the feedback. the name "mortar" is because I built and animated the models based on the mortar animation skeleton and model (empire mortar unit). it is therefore the barrel size and way the artillery piece fires ( specific mortar animation) rather than firing arc behind the naming. I can alter the name to something less immersion breaking if you like.
