In the spirit of the original Neki mod, this mod has some elements that could be considered NSFW. To amend this, direct your gaze to MechinekiSFW or MechinekiSFW AltEars
This mod requires the original Neki mod to function. Without it, it will not only not work, but crash your game!


Intro
The Mechineki are an adorable line of androids produced by a weapons manufacturing company of dubious repute, marketed to the public as "domestic household companion-bots".
Despite the company's reputation, the bots were a hit, selling out not too long after their official release. Unfortunately, an oversight in their programming lead to them becoming a bit more than their owners bargained for, as they swiftly adopted many of the more chaotic, pesky traits of their organic counterparts, the Neki.

The company refused to issue any recalls or refunds, seemingly disappearing from the public eye overnight. As a result, unwanted Mechinekis were trashed and thrown out, but due to their exceedingly hardy nature, few were ever truly destroyed. The dejected machines now roam the world, inhabiting a similar pest-like niche to the Neki themselves.


Features
- A new playable race, the Mechineki!
- Pretty much everything the original Neki mod has, barring scan dialogue, which will eventually be added in the future. This mod will be updated alongside the Neki to make sure things such as crafting stay consistent.

Addons
Be sure to only use one appearance changer at a time! They won't work right if you have multiple installed.

These are for use for those who would like to "un-break" the colors of their pre 1.5 characters.

To-Do
Codexes, Scan Dialogue, and more/improved body colors are the first priorities, but things such as dungeons and encounters will hopefully come into play in the future.

This is one of those mods that started as a joke and kinda spiraled out of control. Hopefully it continues to spiral into something good! Big thanks to Juni for giving me the permission to share!

Development on this mod by the original author (ѕaιnт apollyon) has been suspended.
I will do my best to maintain it, fix bugs and update with stuff from my own mod, Neki, but for now there is no unique new Mechineki content planned by the original author.

just because the madlads of FU keep developing and stealing from other mods, doesnt mean every modmaker has to do that :P

@Solzucht he's probably expecting the person to update the mod to add new features like a lot of the massive mod makers do (like the one that made FU) when Juni isnt the original dev of this mod and has a note saying so

Is there a plan to make a Mechineki version of the Neki Floof mods? I had been considering making one myself, but I'm not that good at pixel art, and I didn't want to make an extra one if you were already planning to make one.

It's possible to fix, but it is not something I can do on my end.
Neki and Mechineki both have support for ear rotation as implemented in StarExtensions (by the same author as OpenStarbound), but it seems they chose to implement it differently and consequently break support in OpenStarbound.
Try asking about it on their Discord :)

Might be a shot in the dark... But is there any chance we could get an update to fix the ears floating away from the body with head rotation on the newest openstarbound update? It's the same issue seen on this reddit post (https://www.reddit.com/r/starbound/comments/16l4e9v/how_to_turn_off_the_head_rotation_of/)

Or is there a way for one to fix this manually? Idk. Thanks!
