Actually, I wonder how well this mod idea could be if it also prevented vanilla Starbound races from being chosen when creating a character, so that, say, other mods could add in custom races, or certain vanilla races (such as Humans, but no Florans for example), resulting in, for example, character creation screens where only modded Starbound races could be created, or only Human characters could be created, or only Human and Felin characters could be created.
Perhaps you'd be interested in developing such a variation of this mod in my stead? (Or perhaps someone else could if you're too busy?)
Some modded races are significantly less polished than others, but they might have cool villages that spawn in the universe. In vanilla an example of this would be the Mushroom People (Agaran), they are fun to stumble across but lack enough content for a good playable race.
