1.1.1 (14/08/2020): Fixed the issue with pottery display radius for meditation, Added decorative plant pots.

This module is a part of Vanilla Furniture Expanded which can be downloaded below. Vanilla Furniture Expanded is not required to play with this module.

Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Art module is something long overdue. Being an artist, I struggled to comprehend why the only type of sculptures we can make are small, large or grand artworks on a tiny pedestal. It made Artistic skill pretty much undesirable. Come on, how many times have you said to yourself “Oh crikey, that’s another pawn that can only do art”?

A lot of people requested this mod on my Patreon so it’s about time I deliver. With this mod, your colony can create simple pottery from neolithic times, allowing you to gain some silver on the side to kickstart your base into the medieval era. Several new pieces of sculptures are available by the likes of small, large and grand statues, wall reliefs, decorative pillars and plinths that act both as an artwork and a shelf.

With industrial era your colony will be able to produce beautiful embroidered rugs to decorate those ugly floors! A new type of wall - wallpaper - is now also available, allowing you to put some colour onto your grim, broken walls. Spacer era features a new type of art called a hologram, emitting beautiful shade of blue light and using intellectual skill to determine the quality of it - however it does use up power!

And if that isn’t enough, a new type of quest reward is available - Archotech sculptures, not only being extremely beautiful and desirable, but also imprinting stunning imagery in the minds of surrounding colonists!

Why don’t you take this mod for a spin and let me know how you like it?

If any pieces of furniture disappear upon being built, move the mod further up the mod queue.

Q: Where do I make rugs?
A: Rugs use tailoring skill and are made on the tailoring bench.

Q: Where do I make holograms?
A: Holograms use Intellectual skill and are made on Fabrication bench.

Q: Where do I make Archotech sculptures?
A: You don’t. They are ancient sculptures left by the Archotech personae, you can only get them as quest rewards or from traders.

Q: Is this mod compatible with other mods that add sculptures?
A: Should be. I did not alter vanilla sculptures in any way - instead I added new types of art.

Q: Is this mod compatible with your Production module?
A: Yes it is! You can make rugs on the Large Tailoring bench!

Q: How do I research other sculpture types?
A: The research projects are all in the new tab in your research window.

Q: What can I expect to see on the development blog on your patreon?
A: Patrons have been able to see the progress on this and many other mods for quite some time now, advising me every step of the way. I try to post several times a week, which is a perfect opportunity to get to know the development process.

Q: Can I suggest a feature?
A: Absolutely, leave a comment down below!

Q: Will you keep updating the mod with new art forms?
A: If I find a commonly requested feature to be viable and fitting, I will not hesitate to make it a part of this mod.

Q: Do I need the base module for it to work?
A: No, our goal has always been zero dependencies. You don’t need anything for this mod to work.

Q: Is this mod compatible with Combat Extended?
A: Yes?

Q: How can I choose a particular sculpture design?
A: If you download this mod you should be able to define what shape your artworks should have.

Q: Why is your mod special?
A: I am a vanilla player. Anything that doesn't suit vanilla game makes me cringe and I stay away from it. I did however find the game lacking after some time, therefore I've created these farming means to be as accurate and as close to vanilla graphics style as possible. What is special? The best part is - nothing in this mod is special at all. Nothing will make you go "Oh that's unusual", because the whole purpose of this mod is to blend into the existing game.

Q: Is this mod save game compatible?
A: Yes, you can add it and remove it whenever you like.

Small issue- it seems I can't sell rugs to anyone.
Is it intended mechanic or there is something wrong with my modpile?

I can't remember seeing archotech art for the past 2 years (not in game years, rl years) and thinking back I've only ever seen them in ruins of other people their bases in some mod?

Do they actually still drop in Quests/Traders or is this part of the mod broken like I think it is?

The rugs (at least the large one) seem to conflict with the plant pots, making them unavailable for planting.

Would it be possible to make the wallpaper structure something placed ontop of walls like the wall lights? Struggling with 1 wall separated rooms and wanna have different wallpapers for them all :(

How does one set up the wall relief? My pawn just finished one and dropped it right next to the art bench and now I only have an option to deconstruct it and nothing else.

None of the art pieces from this mod seem to link up with other nearby art pieces to amplify meditation focus... I tried the obelisk, monument, pillar, relief, and all three sizes of statues. The base game sculptures link up with each other as normal, but the art pieces from this mod do not link with anything, either from the mod or from the base game.

Hello, am I understanding correctly that the small, large, and grand statues are identical to the small, large, and grand statues in the base game except that they have the depicted new art in their finished forms? And if so, is the new art used even if you have an Ideology style that affects statues? I'm asking because I'd love to have the thrumbo statue for my animalist style colony.

I'd love to be able to use some of these as ideology buildings or relics. :steamhappy:

I have an issue where for some reason a small rug can't be moved, it's stuck where it was stored. I only have the option to destroy it.

@King DaMuncha I used the plinth in my game with no issue. Are you setting the allowed storage content, like a standard storage spot? Also check to make sure any other mods that affect storage, like filter mods, also allow the item in question.
