Hat Painter & Crit Glow Tools

Description
A tool that adds paint to TF2 cosmetics, and another that adds critglow or jarate effects to TF2 items and characters.

Requires Team Fortress 2 for crit spark and jarate drip effects.

Features:
  • The normal color tool can't be used to paint hats - it just overlays the "paint" over the hat's default color. This addon uses the same material proxy as TF2 to replace the hat's default color with the paint, making it look exactly the same as it would in-game.

  • The paint tool works on any model with materials set up for paint (every paintable TF2 item, and even a couple extras), and the critglow/jarate tool works on any model with materials set up for either critglows or jarate (just about every weapon, character, and cosmetic in the game). All "hexed" models that used to be TF2 mods should work as well, as long as their original creator set them up properly.

  • Completely dupe/save compatible.

although I've realized that it only fixes itself if you do it twice

I've noticed that if you install the 64-bit version and then switch to the standard version, the add-on becomes obsolete or something like that. I wonder why that happens.

Enter this into the console, it should tell you what addon is doing it:
whereis lua\weapons\gmod_tool\stools\matproxy_tf2itempaint.lua

I don't have any others.

There shouldn't be a "bone merger compatibility" option at all, I removed it back in 2018. The only reason it'd still be there is if you have another addon replacing the tool's code.

I did not. But for some reason disabling bone merger compatability FIXED it lol

@UnstoppableGiant
That shouldn't happen any more, do you have another version of this tool installed, like this one ?

when painting an effect, the green circle disappears, making me unable to bonemerge it.
