I dunno about Oblivion, but I had a great time making my own custom spells in Morrowind. I suspect they nixed it because of interminable exploits. Again I don't know about Oblivion, but in Morrowind, it was possible to combine any fortify attribute spell with a ranged soul-trap effect to permanently magic yourself unlimited attributes.

I used it shamelessly because, let's be honest, if I could do magic, the first thing I'd do is magic myself into Superman, complete with eye lasers. Well, ok, I'd try to, and probably turn myself into a floppy baseball bat by accident. But then some frustrated elf woman would find me and use me as a <censored> and all would be well in Tamriel.

This make me unreasonably angry for a number of reasons. 95% of them not directed at you, of course. Just... I don't understand some of the choices they made with Skyrim.

also where is the actual location of the spellmaker's armor, i was only able to get it other than the ring via console cammands.

just a quick question, is it possible to disenchant the spellmakers equipment?

could you do a update to allow it to were it lets you do the magic mixing etc and all of that? im not complaining i like this mod it's a amazing one.

Now Oblivion came with new and annoying restrictions towards magic, first being the old Levitate spell was gone, (allowed player flight in morrowind) but when you can finally mix magic in oblivion (bunch of quests later) It had a 2-4 spell limit? and you could only mix magic of the same school and things like mixing a heal with a fireball where also gone.. Because apparently Mages have gotten crappy and forgotten real magic... and don't even get me started on enchanting in oblivion vs morrowind....

First of All in Morrowind You could Flat out Combine Any School Of Spell together into a single Spell, you would of course need the skills to cast those, but when you used the spell it would count towards which ever spell had the strongest power in the mixture, because you would also select a combination of Magnitide (which was damage) as well as Area of Effect and Duration.... I believe it allowed up to 7 or 8 spells to be combined.... and yes you could even make a spell that would heal you while shooting a fireball at the same time, i had done it. quite handy

Thank you for making this. Unfortunately this is not true to the spellmaking available in Morrowind and Oblivion.

I restarted the game and now the spell catalogue and spellmaker are there but I can't find anyone who sells the blank tomes, maybe someone could give me the ID if it has one

This is something that actually made Oblivion a better game for me than Skyrim, as end game I actually had stuff to mess around with always. The spellmaker in Oblivion (& Morrowind) was exceedingly useful/powerful and I am beyond gutted it wasn't in Skyrim. I have to say this isn't quite as good, but thanks a bunch for what you've done!! :)

The removal of creating custom spells in Skyrim like there were in TES III and IV was, hands down, my biggest disappointment with this game as a mage player. I got so far with Destruction in Oblivion that I made a touch spell that pretty much instantly killed anything but the toughest enemies in one hit lol. While this doesn't have the freedom I am looking for (seeing as it seems this is mostly a mod with premade spells [of which there are many similar mods] that you have to craft rather than fully creating a personally unique spell) I may try installing it down the road.

I can't seem to find the Blank Spell Tomes at any of the merchants. Is there a level requirement?

There is a mod on the nexus that does something VERY similar to this, but the spells are adjustible. Like if I want a spell that is a projectile that does 8 shock damage over several seconds and the chance to paralyze for a specific amount of seconds and cast soul trap. Even able to name your spells... Not bashing on this or trying to advertise, but I think that if you change this mod or make a sequal or remake, then you could expand on these ideas. I've made this comment mostly because I love this idea of spell creation and hope that it can be improved and expanded. Good day! ^^

Most important question, imo, is if you can use the Black Star for crafting?

Hi. I'm not sure this question was asked already or not, or if you're still keeping up with the mod/comments, but I was wondering about something.

You have it designed where you can craft Soul Gems into better Soul Gems. Would it be possible to set up a function to craft Soul Gems out of Soul Gem Fragments as well? I only ask since I keep finding the things and they have little to no use. I know there is already one that exists that uses the blacksmith forge to do this, and I'm not bashing his development of his mod, but I just find that one to be a bit lacking. I feel that Soul Gem manipulation would be much better suited to your mod.

Novalok there most definitely were ways to create a completely new spell in oblivion. I know there was a crafting station for it in the mage home DLC as well as in some mage bases. You could customize the type of spell weather it was a projectile how large it was etc.

In Oblivion, there wasn't a 'spellmaker' or 'spellcrafter.' I called it more like the spell enhancer. It would take spells you know and you could make them more powerful at the cost of gold coins. however, there was such a thing as too big of cost for spells, as you could never be able to use them, their mana cost was so high. You are on the right track with the spell crafting. However, a way to make more powerful spells that we currently use would be much better.
