My death note has an "image" glitch on it. Also, I can only memorize one face and name, not multiple.

i got the Deathnote but when i go to talk to someone it doesn't say 'memorise name and face' or something

Also the biggest "L" this movie took was the missing potato chip scene.

The only good casting the movie did was the damn Shinigami! I loved ryuk, he is the best comic relief and neutral supporting role I've seen! The whole thing leading up to meeting him was so damn underdone and predictable, he gets the book and it's like "oh that was fast, so now he is going to kill criminals?" then boom! Ryuk is there, like at least kill a few dozen people, get the feel for the damn thing, way to catch someone off guard at school! Which I hated the school, like even in america we have private schools, make him the 5.0 gpa student at some private school in Seattle like come on , there are dozens here. I even have Yale representitives coming to my public school! He is in the same crappy looking school from Twilight. The Chick that likes him in this movie is a stalker, she was so creepy, Misa had a charm about her that Mia lacked, it felt so unnatural.

...Then he screams like a girl after seeing Ryuk, at least in the anime Light had killed hundreds before Ryuk showed up, in fact, Light expected him! I can't possibly expect the anime to be remade flawlessly in an american setting. However, they could have at least stuck to the original in more than just character roles. Light shouldn't have been some beta nerd.. and L, uh no, just no. This one was actually cast wrong, L was the best character, I dont care if it would look weird, but they needed to cast a rail thin, tired looking teen with emo hair, they just had too. I get it, they have checklists in hollywood, I just couldnt get passed a bald black L. I would have prefered them all japanese, but I get that it's america and we are a mixed culture.. but in both the anime and manga he is a extremely pale white ENGLISH guy.. from England!!

Just because he led a quiet life in the anime doesn't mean he was boring, in fact, before he found the deathnote he was the most popular and well known student in his graduating class. Known for his grades and middle school tennis championships. He gets attention wherever he goes. His girlfriend Misa wasn't a student, but a famous television model turned murderer, making her extremely interesting from the start. She doubled as pawn who could use the deathnote without caring about being used. Light Turner being a nerdy, unpopular, average looking guy, made him extremely boring and getting through the first 10 minutes felt like an hour of actual school.

But when you actually take 5 seconds to think about it, you can see what they were going for in the movie- and again, it works. Pisses off the stupid people who just wanted the boring versions in live-action, but it still works. Plus, can you imagine the backlash they'd have gotten having the female lead as a ditsy tsundere/yandere groupie for the male lead? In a Western movie? You're insane to think they could get away with that.

Now, Ryuk... I'm with the masses on that, Willem Dafoe CRUSHED IT as Ryuk. Definitely the best part of the movie, hands down. Nothing more to say.

As for the Japanese movies- You can't say they stuck concrete to the source material either. At least the people in the Netflix version could actually fucking act. Not to mention the majority of 'foreign movies' are NEVER recieved well of Netflix- copying those movies for a Western adaptation would have been professional suicide to everyone involved.

Second, the Turner/Yagami-Misa/Mia 'problem'- the original characters would NEVER have worked in the US setting of the Netflix movie. Light Yagami is just a boring prick with a god complex, and Misa's an asian Harley Quinn rip-off. Can you see ANY Western movie where those two could lead in a movie that's actually entertaining? No you can't- because it's impossible. So they took some elements from both characters, and made completely new characters with Light Turner and Mia. Misa's naive nature, Yagami's sadistictly cynical view on the world and intelligence- all that's in there, just re-arranged to make actually entertaining characters. Of course, fans of the anime will never see it that way because the unstoppable rose-tinted glasses of fandom will blind them to any form of logical analysis- and that is fine, everyone gets that way over one thing or another . First off, the argument about L being black is bullshit. You're never meant to know L's real identity- it's part of why he's the perfect opponent for Light Yagami in the anime. And when you have a character who's identity is meant to be purposefully ambiguous, you have a free license to adapt that role however you choose. And they decided to change L quite a bit- making his handler more important, giving him some shred of emotion, and using the character to meet diversity quotas. It's not what was in the anime or the manga, but it worked for the story they were telling in the movie. So that was basically fair play.

The problem with creation club tis that you're mod could make Bethesda millions, and you would only have a few hundred they gave you in the first place
