I was initially only going for <totally not in anyway> Tintin. When I was nearly done and showed a WIP to a friend they went "Hey! It's Frye!" and I was totally surprised by that comment and then saw it for the first time and was totally on board with the association because Futurama rocks. : )

I'll give the creator a heads up and pray for no drama. But even then the workshop is filled with duplicated concept. (Although I try to be original and avoid it.)

Funny you should say that. When I was making the hair I totally had Tintin in mind and showed a good friend and they went "Look! It's Frye! Shutup and take my Money!" Ever since that I embraced that likeness. :) Also the combinations slide I intentionally tried to get a good Frye look going.
