Well, the scenario editor says I need The Conquerors, but that's not really available on Steam.

I tried this again, and it does start, no expansion required. No enemies spawn, however.

"I don't own the required expansion."

This clearly doesn't work for everyone and I don't know why. It worked for me and the AI even spawned and attacked like intended. I tried fixing it, but I'm not experienced in Workshop content, especially with Age of Empires not making it easy to upload and share.

I'm keeping it up for the people it works for and to give others ideas and improve on it.

It isn't really a survive map played it using @andytheroo13 post instructions but the enemy just stands there and doesn't attack you.

try this someone found how to make it work, after downloading you have to find the scenario file. It should be located in "Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\221380\944397836\resources\_common\scenario", then you gotta move that file, into your scenario folder of the game. So probably this folder:
"Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\resources\_common\scenario". Then you can select the scenario when you chose expansions. And that should do the trick

The reason most people can't run it is that the workshop installs it to the wrong folder and no one reads comments on what to do about it. It worked fine, but the game went hilariously wrong over time. Once I researched Spies and realized the enemy was OVER 9000!!!! I almost died laughing.

I made a scenario/map that worked for me and apparently a few other people. I uploaded it to the Workshop and it got messed up and seems complicated, if even possible, for some people to get to work.
I made this quite long ago and I don't have experience with the Workshop for AoE, so I don't know myself why it's like this.
I never expected this many people to have interest in it and it's probably not as good as you expect it to be.
So, I don't know what I can do for you other than make it again from scratch.

It spawned over 9,000 enemies. I wish I was joking. Over 4,000 each for Bandits and Kingdom of the West. Bandits practically melted, the others.. not so much. One corner was solid bandit color, other corner was solid Kingdom of the West color. The respawning gold was inaccessible because the respawning stone was blocking it. The game was fun, but good grief was it ridiculous. The AI thankfully did nothing for the most part or I'd have lost horribly to massive armies that greatly exceeded the unit limit.

nothing is explained and everyone including me is trying to figure it out. This game mode sounds amazing but I haven't been able to get it to work. I selected it in the game type. "Age of Survival" but nothing works. Even set everything as standard.
What do we do!!!

It's still here because it does work for some people. Also, I didn't delete it so people can see it and get ideas from it, therefore making their own versions of it.

It shouldn't be that big. It even says here that it's 344 MB. Either way, this scenario/workshop turned out to be a mess, so I can't help much. Sorry.

Do you know how I would be able to fix that? In the scenario settings, I choose the right things, so I don't know why that doesn't match up.

I try every few weeks just in case i get lucky but i cant get it to work, but this is also the only mod for AoE I have ever tried to use. I may just be an idiot.

It seems to work for others, so I don't even know if there is a problem and if there is, I wouldn't know what it is or how to fix it.
Honestly, I'm not experienced with Steam Workshop or with AoE scenarios and I didn't expect this many people to even have interest in this.
So, I'd just say if you really want to play it look through the comments here because some people posted solutions. Other than that, I don't think I can help much because of how over-complicated the Workshop for AoE is.

I'll try re-uploading, but IMO, the process of getting AoE2 content on the workshop is a mess.

problem still persists. it shows up as a dataset, but when i try to select it as a scenario, the list is empty.
maybe try reuploading it somehow?

I didn't even set it to require all expansions. Anyway, I had problems with the scenario editor and workshop, so that's probably why some things are messed up.

This is a really neat idea. Shame that it apparently requires the full suit of expansions. I'll have to remember to check back in the future to see if you release a base game version.

game gives me the "invalid scenario" message, a search of my computers files shows no results for the file Sunny mentioned.

It doesn't work... (for me), I try everything but it doesn't work.

it wont let me play is because it needs all the dlc. sad.
