Heh, I guess I wasn't supposed to catch myself with the light bridge at the end of part 2 :P Thanks for the chambers - these were really fun to play :D

Not good. In Map 2 the Blue Plates would activate as cube passes over them or sites on them (the one in the side room). Here in Map 3 the blue plate is a PORTABLE Surface. I would never have guessed that in amillion years - so after a watsed hour . .. watched the video.
BTW - Map 2 was buggy as hell and after several hours of watching the cube vanich and reappear . . . have both cube and sphere go right through the grate . . . and having the sphere dropper suddenly refuse to drop any more spheres . . I closed it down and played this one.

Easy but fun map to solved! I've never use the faith plate, and I didn't know the purpose for the portable surface behind the fizzler.
Check out my workshop sometime.
I don't have the custom visuals like you, but i think you'll find the puzzles to be real good.

Part 1 and 2 were good. I enjoyed them.
Cassie‽  [author] 11 Mar, 2013 @ 7:25am
auto: 2 is a good point. I made a custom graphic to show it more clearly but I couldn't get it to pack properly so I just made a loud noise in the hopes of making the player look over to see the panel switching. Maybe I'll update it to include that later on.
1 is another good point - however, I figured since I'd used the portalable switches in previous parts it'd be a little more intuitive. In retrospect, I should've included a light panel up by the switch to brighten it a bit.

Thanks for the feedback! If you haven't played parts 1 and 2 yet, I urge you to do so, as they are the much stronger parts of the series.

It was a good puzzle, but I think there are some flaws.

1. When I played this map for the first time, I didn't know that the special switch on the ceiling is a portable surface. You should make it more obvious. Maybe you can make the switch's background color white instead of gray.

2. There should be signs (or an antline) that show the relationship between the button pedestal and the panel in the middle of the room (where the player spawns).

OpTiCz_CodFather - Ah, yeah, forgot to name that set of dots. The puzzles still work though so I'll keep it in.
(BTW, can you direct any other part 2 comments over to the part 2 page? That would help a LOT to reduce confusion :P)
Brenden 13 Jan, 2013 @ 11:14am
oh and on the wall to the lassers in part two the dots for power stay blue and dont turn orange when powered sorry for the dubble post
Brenden 13 Jan, 2013 @ 11:10am
yes now it opens the workshop the first time i played it didnt open for any way and i was talking about part 2
Cassie‽  [author] 13 Jan, 2013 @ 10:52am
OpTiCz_CodFather: Are you talking about part 2 or 3? The answer is "yes" in both cases - but in part 2 it drops you so the ending is the same.
Brenden 13 Jan, 2013 @ 10:50am
hmm thats weird it worked this time i dont know what could have caused it to do that where it didnt bring up the workshop. and also am i suposed to be able to get to the exit door because i can and then i get stuck
Cassie‽  [author] 11 Jan, 2013 @ 1:48pm
OpTiCz_CodFather: Ok, I think I see what you mean on part 3. I may just leave it in since it doesn't affect normal gameplay much. However, I still don't know what might be the problem in part 2. Could you record a video?
Brenden 11 Jan, 2013 @ 12:52pm
well in both ways the workshop didnt open and the funnel way just put in a place where it was totally black and the some how i got out and was at the bottom of the map. oh and on broken cicuit i am able to get to the platform on which the faith plate that launches the cube is and by accident i got launched and landed against the broken wall part and it let me into a small room thing that kept the map from leaking. also the deadly goo by the portalible surface behind the other faith plate was not deadly at all
Cassie‽  [author] 10 Jan, 2013 @ 5:56pm
OpTiCz_CodFather: Hm, I'm pretty sure there's a trigger to fall into at the bottom. Did the workshop menu pull up when you did it the other way?
Brenden 10 Jan, 2013 @ 5:50pm
love the map i gave me a good time and i finally beat it and i was wondering about the ending of part 2 because i was able to get to the end by placing a portal at the bottom infront of the fake exit from the little lip at the top of map where the sphere is i then placed a portal at the blue funnel and floated up and found the companion cube and a trap door but when i do it the way when weatly turns the funnel off it doesnt take me to the next map like the first part did and i ended up being able to walk around on the bottom

Thanks for adding my video, I hope it helps somebody

tanger2b (stop changing usernames XD): Worry not, the custom element will come more into play later. Originally the test was just the last platform but then it just wasn't a puzzle. So then, I decided to make more of a puzzle around catching the cube you use on the last platform. I guarantee this is a necessary step in the difficulty curve.
tanger2b 10 Sep, 2012 @ 6:13pm
And the swag
tanger2b 10 Sep, 2012 @ 6:13pm
Not looking the physclip near the faith plate. I can't go out the wall near the faith plate. I didn't spend much time on the puzzle, so exfu glitch worked. Could have made the center platform more obvious. Walls seem to need more detail. Still an okay map, but it felt like you were straying from the custom element a bit.
gabet4 9 Sep, 2012 @ 3:34pm
You diserve of high praise for this map I like it. Very well done
Cassie‽  [author] 9 Sep, 2012 @ 8:32am
VinLAURiA: Tests with circuitry are surprisingly hard to make. Don't worry though, more are coming ;)
VinLAURiA 9 Sep, 2012 @ 1:17am
I am appalled at how long it took me to figure out the first switch funnel for bridge bit. Everything after that was still dimwittedly slow on my part but was steady. Slightly disappointed at the lack of circuitry in this one.
Cassie‽  [author] 4 Sep, 2012 @ 7:58pm
Warbear: You really have to play parts 1 and 2 to get the concept.
Warbear 4 Sep, 2012 @ 7:42pm
No, only played this one. Will try the others.
Le Petit Mort 4 Sep, 2012 @ 3:18pm
Pros:
• Hammer level;
• New gameplay mechanic continues still on;
• Well balanced puzzle, especially initially;
• 'Ruined' theming;

Cons:
• General aesthetic seems a little drab somehow;
• Final solution to puzzle feels a little odd;
Cassie‽  [author] 4 Sep, 2012 @ 6:52am
Warbear: Did you play parts 1 and 2? In those parts I teach exactly what it does and how to use it - this is just another application of it.
Warbear 3 Sep, 2012 @ 10:17pm
When I looked at the plate, I figured it was some kind of switch with a custom graphic, and the funnel needed to press the cube onto it. I would never have figured out that the cube needs to pass *through* it in order to actuate the elevator. Stuff that is non-standard to the game will frustrate people.
Cassie‽  [author] 3 Sep, 2012 @ 8:14pm
Warbear: That was a tough one to communicate and it was easier before the conductive plates. Since cubes are conductive they'll conduct electricity no matter wehre they are on the plate.
Warbear 3 Sep, 2012 @ 8:00pm
OK, finished it. One complaint is: how is the player supposed to know that dropping the cube through that plate does something?[/quote]
Cassie‽  [author] 3 Sep, 2012 @ 7:27pm
Mr.Johno: Thank you very much for that walkthrough! I'll add it in soon.
Cassie‽  [author] 3 Sep, 2012 @ 7:26pm
Warbear: The excursion funnel is totally unnecessary at this point. Just drop the cube through the plate using portals to lower the platform.

wrathofmobius, can you include this video link in this page using edit video and pictures link please
Warbear 3 Sep, 2012 @ 7:16pm
You said "then portal the cube through the conductive plate to bring the exit elevator down." I got to the platform by the elevator, and have the cube, but the funnel is going the wrong way. Did I miss a polarity button? I pushed the pedastal button, but it didn't seem to do anything.
Warbear 3 Sep, 2012 @ 6:50pm
OK, now that makes sense. Thanks.
Cassie‽  [author] 3 Sep, 2012 @ 6:38pm
Warbear: Put your blue portal on the excursion funnel and the orange portal on the portalable wall directly across the starting platform. Go through the ExFu until you reach the area with the hard light bridge. Place your blue portal on the end of the hard light bridge so the swap is instantaneous. Then do the rest of the puzzle like normal.
Warbear 3 Sep, 2012 @ 5:51pm
I don't follow you, wrath.
Cassie‽  [author] 3 Sep, 2012 @ 4:34pm
Warbear: Not if you use the same portal that was on the excursion funnel before. That makes it instantaneous.
Warbear 3 Sep, 2012 @ 12:44pm
You are too close to the water when you have to change from funnel to lightbridge.
Cassie‽  [author] 3 Sep, 2012 @ 7:53am
Warbear: Yes, I did playtest this. Many times. Impossible as it is to imagine, there actually is a solution. Devilishly hidden.
Use the excursion funnel to go to the area by the fizzler, then swap the excursion funnel for the hard light bridge. Then, make your way over to the catapult using the HLB. After that, use the excursion funnel and extend it behind the fizzler. Use the catapult to jump into it and ride it to the exit platform. Finally, press the button, catch the cube, then portal the cube through the conductive plate to bring the exit elevator down.
Good luck :D
Warbear 3 Sep, 2012 @ 12:14am
Did you play test this? There's no place to go but death in the toxic water.
Tomki 2 Sep, 2012 @ 3:32pm
I beated your map was so easy about 5 min :) Good job autor, awesome map really!
