@ denstat - Thanks! I'm so glad people are still finding and using this mod. I think it's my favorite.
denstat 12 Nov, 2022 @ 11:55pm
Love these, so organic and well thought out. Still ticking in Oldrim. Thanks!

I'm so happy that people are still finding and using City Shacks!
mjajan30 11 Aug, 2019 @ 6:11pm
Perfect mod for me thanks
Kad 26 Jun, 2019 @ 2:46am
I had forgotten what this was called and how much it made the game better thank you sooooo much - I will confess I do like my chicken at Breeze home so I bought it but don't live there ha ha silly huh
Darth Tater 9 Feb, 2018 @ 8:16pm
Would you consider porting this to Skyrim Special Edition (on Nexus)
Antares 5 Nov, 2017 @ 7:53am
@Ticklefeather,
not to worry, elisabethjacksonhall is working on an overvault of her mod which will be compatible with open cities, so the entrance of her mod is gone.
Thx for answering,
cheers
Ticklefeather  [author] 2 Nov, 2017 @ 3:48am
@Antares Thank you for your kind words. Sorry to hear about the conflict though. Riften is a crowded place.
Antares 24 Oct, 2017 @ 4:13am
@Ticklefeather,
cc@elisabethjacksonhall

One little conflict that I have noticed, and I suspect it is with the mod. „Brynjolf has time for you“ from your „Sister moddingtalent“ elisabethjacksonhall.
I think there is a conflict between the two entrances, they are probably in the same cell.
I don‘t get the entrance to the thievesguilds apartment and cannot even enter it through the cistern.
I shall now try what happens if I unsubscribe your mod. – regrettfully, since I still need it in Markarth and Windhelm- but I want to see what happens. Just thought I let you know (and elisabeth too).
Antares 24 Oct, 2017 @ 4:12am
@Ticklefeather,
cc@elisabethjacksonhall

once again you have provided us with an excellent mod. and a great idea! As ever lovingly executed and wonderfully immersive. You are one talented modder!
This mod. works wonderfully well with „Life another Life“ and all sneaky stile play like Thieves guild and Brotherhood.

A must for all those who don’t want to be burdened with to much property!

Please carry on the good work and thankyou very much for sharing your work!
Greetings

Awk! City Shacks is not on SSE!!! My player is homeless -- have to rent a room by the night in one of those crummy inns. I'm sure she got bedbugs from the Bannered Mare...
raev1n 29 Mar, 2017 @ 6:30pm
DarkLustre, I tried your suggestion, but Jaxonz Positioner couldn't move Dawn of Skyrim's clutter. I may have to find an alternative "apartment" for Riften.
DarkLustre 13 Mar, 2017 @ 10:14pm
Raev, you can get Jaxonz Positioner and move the boxes, in game, to get at the key.
Ticklefeather  [author] 13 Mar, 2017 @ 1:51am
You can use the consol commands to open the door. I haven't used the creation kit in quite a while now so looking up the code for the key will take time. I'm glad you like the mod though. :D
raev1n 6 Mar, 2017 @ 5:57pm
I've tried this mod and favorited it, but it isn't compatible with Dawn of Skyrim (which I also use). Specifically, the key to the shack in Riften is blocked by or replaced with assorted boxes. Is there an alternative way to get the key? Maybe a console code?
DarkLustre 9 Jan, 2017 @ 9:05pm
Also if this isn't on Nexus, you might consider putting it on there.
DarkLustre 9 Jan, 2017 @ 8:20pm
Could you consider making it mandatory to pay, but make the key stealable for those who don't want to? It totally destroys immersion to have to 'pretend' you are paying a lock box. I really want the feeling of poverty, which is why this mod is so exciting! You might be able to make it scalable so a person could choose to pay $500, $1000, or even $5000 for each one, in the MCM. The main thing is having to purchase it from an NPC.

I think that would really help with the immersion. This mod would be so useful for poverty buffs that don't want to live in large homes!
Ticklefeather  [author] 24 Dec, 2016 @ 3:44am
@ Gorveth Yes, there's a chance! City Shacks would be a good first mod for the special edition for me.
Yools 21 Dec, 2016 @ 3:22pm
Any chance of seeing this ported to Skyrim special edition? I love the windhelm shack and I've always used it as my main house for my Dark elves. Special edition feels lacking without it.
skyrim_rox 22 Sep, 2016 @ 4:36pm
These are so kewl! I love these little get aways in te cities.
Ticklefeather  [author] 12 Aug, 2016 @ 12:40pm
I need to look at the new Holds mod that you mentioned. I haven't played Skyrim in a while so it will feel almost like a new game!

I like the taxes idea.
Lazarae 21 Jul, 2016 @ 7:05pm
For people who want a rent option: Taxes of the Nine Holds lets you set how much to pay in what hold how often, so you can pay 'rent' as taxes. And end up with bounties if you can't pay.
Kay 25 Apr, 2016 @ 3:56pm
This needs to be added into the new HOLDS mod that overhauls all of the cities.
[MET] Aditsan 13 Jan, 2016 @ 7:01am
You should make buying them optional. Or like paying rent for them optional. Roleplaying it alone just feels cheap to me. That's the only issue or I'd download. xD Other than that it's a great mod, good job.
Kad 18 Jul, 2015 @ 1:14am
Oh Kool, where have these been hiding... you are totally re-doing my games thank you !!!
ewelsmore 6 Oct, 2014 @ 11:25am
I love these shacks ! I use them a lot where I have no home.
Ticklefeather  [author] 17 Sep, 2014 @ 11:49pm
@psyckosama Yes, I've considered it but it always seems to be at the bottom of my ongoing mod project list. I'm very glad that people are still discovering this mod. It's one of my favorites. I do see the need for seperate shacks as some conflict with newer mods. At the moment, I'm busy playing Minecraft before any horrible changes kick in, but I'll move City Shacks up on my list.

Also, the Whiterun key box is directly to the right of the shack door on the ground next to the main gate.
Psyckosama 17 Sep, 2014 @ 8:57pm
Have you considered making these mods into separate mods so if someone wants one of the houses but not the other, they can?

Also, where's the key for the whiterun shack?
Ticklefeather  [author] 16 Aug, 2014 @ 12:06pm
@ djohns I'm glad it's working for you now.
Darth Tater 16 Aug, 2014 @ 9:57am
Hi Tickle,
I took off one of my Markarth mods and the shack appeared. City shacks is a nice mod, thank you for making it. I'm not into the palaces, just a place to get sleep credits and to store stuff.
Ticklefeather  [author] 10 Aug, 2014 @ 4:34am
@ djohns No, I haven't relocated the Markarth shack but perhaps I should. It conflicts with MadFrenchie's Markarth mod. He placed a NPC room in the same space.
Darth Tater 9 Aug, 2014 @ 7:20pm
Very nice. Love the shacks in Whiterun, Solitude and Riften but there is no shack at the Markarth Warrens when I play. Was the Markarth shack relocated?
GeoJoaT 16 Jul, 2014 @ 10:07am
only used the one in whiterun so far but absolutely perfect!
MannyDib 12 Jul, 2014 @ 11:40am
@Ticklefeather
Ya, I have that problem in inns a lot because I'm using a few mods that increase the population in cities (Populated Cities, Inconsequential NPCs and Immersive Wenches). The game spreads them out then they go about their routines which end up being sitting on my inn room's chairs and sleeping in its bed. Its kinda comical. Those mods really do make cities feel like cities, though.
Ticklefeather  [author] 12 Jul, 2014 @ 1:28am
@ Game-Tourist I'm glad you like it! Your pricing looks great to me. And as to your wandering wenches...um....I'll go with feature!
MannyDib 11 Jul, 2014 @ 8:32pm
Liking this mod so far since my characters tend to be rather nomadic.

I've been giving some thought, for gameplay/roleplay purposes as to how much they should cost to rent, lease or buy. Maybe double the inn cost for one night. Half of the price of the vanilla home to buy and 10% of that for a 1 year lease
so in Whiterun for example:

Stay a night at the Bannered Mare: 10 gp
Stay at the city shack: 20 gp
Buy the city shack: 2,500 gp
Lease the shack for a year: 500 gp

The last option is probably over-think but I threw in for s*** & grins

Interestingly...
I did have "wenches" from the "immersive wenches" mod wander into the Whiterun shack to sit down or use the Alchemy lab. Not sure if that's a bug or a feature :-)

Ticklefeather  [author] 13 Jun, 2014 @ 3:10am
@ Jalvr Not at all. The problem was NPC pathing. My shack in Whiterun blocked their path, so I gave them a detour by making a little wooden bridge over the water. I Navmeshed the new bridge and connected it to the vanilla Navmesh. With the bridge, the NPCs were able to complete their routines and stopped trying to exit the city in weird ways.
Jalvr 13 Jun, 2014 @ 2:32am
Hey, I was wondering how u fixed the navmesh problem in whiterun. would you mind telling me how you fixed it?
Ticklefeather  [author] 16 May, 2014 @ 11:24pm
Thanks! Me too!
Zumoku 16 May, 2014 @ 8:24pm
awesome mod! i love role playing the poor guy :D
Aaron of Mpls 22 Apr, 2014 @ 5:20pm
Hmm, I see the Solitude Public Bathhouse [www.nexusmods.com] is in the same location as the Solitude shack. Not a big deal; I can use them in different savegames (easy enough with Mod Organizer [www.nexusmods.com] profiles) or disable the outside of the Solitude shack in the console if I'm not using it.

Thanks again, Ticklefeather!
Ticklefeather  [author] 26 Mar, 2014 @ 12:38am
Hey thank you Aaron of Minneapolis!
Aaron of Mpls 25 Mar, 2014 @ 6:57pm
I don't think I've ever properly thanked you for this mod. It was one of the first I downloaded when I started playing back in late 2012, and I still use it a lot. My characters often live in the Whiterun home for much of their early career after Balgruuf makes them thanes (unless they join the Companions first), and my Dunmer characters always end up at least part-time residents of the Grey Quarter house.

Much thanks for improving my game, Ticklefeather!
Aaron of Mpls 25 Mar, 2014 @ 6:56pm
@Zaga: Your download might've gotten corrupted. You could try deleting this mod and re-downloading it.

Or, you might have another mod that edits the same part of Whiterun, and conflicts with this one.
.Zaga 18 Feb, 2014 @ 10:00pm
yeah the other shacks is appear, but not with the whiterun one,in whiterun the only thing that spawn is the plank bridge not with the shack.thanks for advance
Ticklefeather  [author] 17 Feb, 2014 @ 6:52am
@ Zaga Do the others appear?

If yes, then perhaps you've walked past the Whiterun shack. It is right next to the main gate before crossing the little bridge.

If no, then you should make sure the mod has downloaded completely before pressing the Play button on game start up.

Hope that helps.
.Zaga 17 Feb, 2014 @ 6:22am
the shack in whiterun doesnt appear when im there, what is happening?
Darkwingz 15 Feb, 2014 @ 12:15pm
Looks like mod I would love to play with except I dont take any freebies, if it required fixed rent and I would need for ex. pay it to the jarl or his advisor, that would be incredible.

That could probably be major hit with all the RP players out there.
