Very late, but if anyone sees this, a similar mod to this that makes it so that the defense of a unit is removed while flanked would be great considering the vast overuse of defense on the workshop

Since this mod is a must for me and i'm using it for literal years, i'll just comment a few things:

It's safe to add mid campaign and even mid tactical save
Works with WOTC and LWOTC
You can even change the bonus setting mid tactical save

I have AML and 400+ mods, incluting LWOTC. Disregard any comment that says this doesn't work correctly.

xcom 2 is unplayable without this...idk why they made point blank shots not hit, statistically speaking it's possible to miss every shot on the first mission and not have enough grenades to compensate

Apparently you need a new save file for this mod to work.
Otherwise works perfectly fine with Wotc.

Honestly not sure about compatibility, I haven't played XCOM 2 in long time now. I tried to make the mod as lightweight as possible, so unless they changed some really fundamental things in the update this mod should still work

Thanks for the explanation, and the extra text in the description. I haven't dived into the INIs to see how the Good Angle thing can be removed, if I remember it right then as a soldier gets closer to a flank they get a bonus to their to hit roll. With a flank proper there's no cover which affects the to hit roll, but no bonus. Beyond the crit one though.

As you're using MCM I'd say adding those options you mention would be a great idea.

Actually, this mod doesn't affect character stats per-se. It gives all units a hidden ability which confers a flanking aim bonus.

But yeah, I agree with you about Good Angles. I don't think it can apply while also flanking a target so they should not interact.

Good cover only deals with angles up to 90 degrees. This effects character stats, so they don't interact?

If I understand how Good Angle works (which I may not, as I don't play with it), then it shouldn't be possible to flank a target and get Good Angle as well. But I could be wrong.

If it is possible, it will apply in addition to any "Good Angle" bonuses, as well as any eStat_FlankingAimBonuses. I have a version made that removes these bonuses and only leaves the bonus from this mod, however I did not want to make that a default feature as I'm sure people would rather enable/disable Good Angles themselves to suit their liking.

And yes, it applies to all units. If you'd like I could add a couple more options to apply only to XCOM, remove Good Angles, and remove eStat_FlankingAimBonuses in the interface. Just let me know if it's something you'd really care about and I'll see about putting it in.
