This mod is (currently) fundamentally broken in the map definition, and prevents the game from fully loading up while enabled, throwing up errors about the map.

...I think that's what people are talking about when they request updates.

Varus, test mode log file will tell you which files need fixing and maybe it's not just only defines. I don't know. I don't play the game anymore.

@Varus Probably the only thing different are new lines in the defines.lua, before whenever there were updates that was the only thing that needed changing. You can see which lines are needed to be added using test mode.

I was thinking about doing so but I'm not sure what improvements you all would like to see. I also haven't played the game in around a year, so I'll have a lot of catching up to do. HOI is not the game to play if you like RTS, I found out.

The main problem I have is that when the ai declare war on each other every country is 100% towards capitulation. As a result the ai sign a white peace the day after the war starts, leading to nothing happening.

@Deveyer I took a look, I can't make one for 1.2.1 because there are hard-coded functions in the engine that the latest mod relies on that are not available on 1.2.1, so even if I fixed the fixable errors, the 1.2.1 version won't be a good representation of what I want the mod to be. Sorry about that. Let me know if there's anything you want to see changed in the latest version.

@Illinoisball Hold off on the all-caps rant there, I fixed it. Also once you start splitting up and making more countries the game starts lagging more and more. So until HOI4 Engine gets better, I'm not going to add more countries like that. Maybe I can consider splitting up the US into regions instead. But please play the other version instead, this is not recommended for gameplay.

@Deveyer I'll look into it- I'll probably make one for you. But if I do that, it's going to be on the other playable version, and it's going to be after I update the map on that and tweak the AI more. Meanwhile if it's not that hard to make it (I think it will be only a few lines adjusting in defines.lua...) I'll make it rightaway. Is that alright?

@Deveyer What do you mean, 1.2.1 version? Also yes this version is not very kind to slow computers (my computer included) and that's why I made the other version. This version is more for you to watch the world burn, and the other version is more for you to play.

Alright, I've been coaxing the AI to make more stuff so I shouldn't need to put a limit at all. Still haven't figured out parallel production though. Also, I'm supposed to assume this will be played person vs. person most of the time anyway. Not sure if the engine will like this, but, will compensate other things to make the speed faster. Update coming!

@IronOxide I'll look into it. As I said before once someone starts making 1000+ units the engine can't handle the game anymore and AI becomes way too easy to beat. But that being said had I figured out before how to make AI produce in parallel (I knew how back in HOI3) I wouldn't have needed anything like a production cap. If I were to assume that people will be mainly playing this game in person to person combat then a production cap shouldn't exist as well too. So I'll either make an event that enables players to choose to play with cap on or off, or find a way to make AI produce more.

@gryphus.crux I like the sped up bits like how dast the game goes. Just like make it so a 5-8 hour game can be done in a hour. The only thing i absolutely hate is the number of troops you can produce everything else makes this mod great

Have increased everything by 200. Also I fixed some critical errors like some countries not producing anything (new patch is so hard to deal with) and I need to optimize more but both editions are good for now.

The delta between the units and states are really fine-tuned and optimized, so we'll have to increase everything as a set by a certain amount. Increase everything by....?

Did the state size also play a role in how many units you got? Also yes, I do believe the threshold was just abit too low. Like I said earlier, I do get you guys made the limit to stop the game as best you could from lagging but I felt it was abit too low which made it kind of hard to defend your country depending on who you played such as Germany with all it's neighbors.

Also @buyyet Yes I know it's late but...the other dev is working on the Persona expansion stuff and the loading screens. It's pretty low in the priority scale though...we're working on a new map right now. We'll see if we can make HK and Macau independent, for people that like to play on the highest difficulty. Also even in latest 1.4.0 PDX didn't put leaders portraits so that would be pretty low on the priority scale too. But thanks for understanding the Melee jokes! Finally someone gets both Persona and Melee!

@Giraffe Yes. Very much so. Do you feel that the threshold in the last mod is too low? I actually made it so that the number you can make depends on the number of states you take. So actually Eastern Europe can make a lot of more units than, say, Oceania because it has more land it needs to defend. I tweaked this myself by plaing co-op Eastern Europe with the other dev.

I think doing it on the other mod would be better, and for now trying out increasing the limit threshold would do. Would it be more stable on the competitive edition since there's less countries to process everything?

@Giraffe No actually, I think that if it's for that purpose then it would be good to make another version where the assumption is that there's going to be person to person combat instead of against AI. Back in HOI3 I could actually do lua programming and fine-tune the AI but here it's not possible anymore and I can't make the AI come up with novel strategies. If there's something like a gentleman's agreement to not overproduce units too, then a limit won't be necessary as well. Would you want this, or should I just increase the limit threshold? Should I do it on the other mod or this version?

Thanks for the response, I see what you mean but the reason I asked is because me and a couple of other friends enjoyed the older versions a whole lot more then now and that's why I was asking if it was possible. If you wish to not release a seperate version that's fine though, the mod is still great.

@Giraffe Yes it's possible. I did also wonder, what if you made HP high and make units harder to make so that I don't need to put a limit? But after testing I figured that once I take away the ability to make units easily then the game loses its point. If I do release a version then I think it would be on the other version though, because in this version with a lot of countries, having like 500 units per country will not do the engine any favors. Trust me....I did play before with no limits and full HP and then the game became too easy. I just sent a 500-stack unit at the capital and the AI just died. Under such a meta, there is no test of skill. This would be actually fun in person to person fights but even then...the game slows down so much if you cap off the production. Any reason why you want the version to be a variation of this one?

I know that you've been limiting how many soldiers someone can build and reduced their HP to help stabilize the game but would it still be possible to release an earlier version without any of those limits seperate from this version?

I actually ironically played this game as a joke, but holy fuck you guys did an amazing job with this mod. You replace all the old trashy flags with new, improved flags, and make the game seem like it's revolved around LSD. I enjoy the jokes of Melee added to it as well.

Some things I would like this mod to have:
A bigger soundtrack from Persona 4
Get rid of the generic WW2/HOI4 menu screen and loading screens
Fix the leaders portraits
Make Hong Kong and Macau separate nations.

Either way, this is a great mod, and I can't wait to see more if it, in the future.
