If you're referring to the game crashing during battles, this is due to the new DLC. To play the mod, you need to roll back to the previous version of CK2 and disable the Jade Dragon DLC if you have it. A new update is coming soon to the mod to make it playable with the latest version of CK2.
Current Release Date for 1.1 is the 29th of January, and I'm pressing hard to meet that date, though it is a challenge.
Go to your Steam library, right click on Crusader Kings 2 and select properties. Find the section labelled Beta, and click on the dropdown menu. You should find a list of all previous patches. Select Old Version 2.7.2 and hit apply. That should roll you back to the previous patch. To go back to the latest patch, just go back to the Beta menu and select none.
To play the mod, you'd need to roll back to the previous patch. A compatible version should be released alongside the next update, coming either at the end of this month or early next year.
The issue with Republic portraits glitching has been fixed, so republics will be playable from the start in the next update.
Hopefully by the end of this year, sometime after the next expansion for CK2 comes out.
There's a chance to improve via Spiritual Journey, but other than that, there's little way to improve. In the next patch, you will be able to use bending in duels, so there will be more ways to improve.
There's currently no implementation for Metal, and currently for Lightening, you need to be ruler of the Fire Nation.
Eventually, yes. Progress is quite slow at the moment, but there should be another patch before the end of the year.
Next update, the Avatar's actions will still be mostly event driven, but the Avatar mechanics are always changing, and I'll have to leave it at that for now.
Characters never convert culture, but you can use the heritage focus and hire courtier decisions to get more characters of your culture.
Only by the usual vanilla cultural conversion event which you need high Stewardship to make fire more often.
Cultures can be changed either regularly (through borders), or through the Colony mechanic. If you have a province in your realm that belongs to another culture group, you can right click on the county title and take the decision to establish a colony there for 250 gold. It goes through three stages of growth via prosperity before finally completing.
It's always been based on the elemental cycle. Fire > Air > Water > Earth. If applicable, the mod will assign a canon name to an Avatar of the right element (so when Kyoshi dies, the next Avatar will be named Roku, then Aang, then Korra).
The new duel system is coming next patch, and will include battlefield duels. The Air mechanics are going to be overhauled next patch yet again too, but right now, those with the Air Nomad trait can't marry. Any children the same-gender as the parent however, will be of your dynasty and all children are legitimate.
We've already got quite a list of things to add to the mod already, so suggestions for anything not relatively minor may take a while to add even if it's a really good idea, but feel free to give any suggestions you might have.
