Would be cool to have a version of this mod for the HD version of the game
Korokan 15 Feb, 2021 @ 2:15am
And crossbowmen have the same proble. And I hope this is my last comment.
Korokan 9 Feb, 2021 @ 4:28pm
And halberdier and heavy cavalry archer decay faster. And pikemen have the same problem of knights, light cavalries and long swordsmen. I think that's all.
Korokan 30 Jan, 2021 @ 11:02am
PS: Oh, I almost forgot. Long swordsmen have the same problem. And I was wrong with the spearmen: they're ok. Their bodies dissapeared just because a player wanted to build there the corpses were before to change his mind. So it canceled the spearmen bodies anyway.

I hope this bug report will help you to improve this mod. I love it.
Korokan 29 Jan, 2021 @ 11:23am
I noticed some frames missing. The knights and light cavalries corpses dissapeared after ten minutes except they are stuck to the first decay frame until dissapearing (so no rotting bodies and dissappearing anyway).
Also, the spearman corpse turned to the south meets the same glitch. (I suspect some other frames of spearmen are lacking either but I'm not sure to have spotten everything).

However, this mod is awesome and makes the game realistic. You got my 5 stars.

I would like to add this feature to a combined data mod I'm making but if that's the fastest way to do it, that would be extremely tedious. Just wondering if you used a faster method.
MathiusXII 17 Nov, 2019 @ 7:30pm
Did you just change every dead unit's corpse decay time under resource storages? (Assuming you used Advanced Genie Editor)
Trappist 6 May, 2019 @ 2:25pm
So, it works fine except it seems to have replaced unit feedback voices with japanese for every civ? Love the mod, but it's very hard to play, cuz' the female villager voice actress is like nails on chalkboard.
MathiusXII 1 May, 2019 @ 3:08pm
Is there a combined mod out there?
Xena  [author] 1 May, 2019 @ 4:18am
@MathiusXII sadly theres no way of combining multiple data mods, the devs haven't made this possible yet. If you want multiple data mods at once to work you have to combine them into one basically.
MathiusXII 30 Apr, 2019 @ 3:36pm
Is there a compatibility option for this mod and Independent Architecture?
Trappist 19 Jan, 2019 @ 5:43pm
Thanks!
Xena  [author] 17 Jan, 2019 @ 6:07am
@Thog I accidentally changed the visibility to friends only, it's back public now :)
Trappist 16 Jan, 2019 @ 10:50pm
What happened to the no expansions version?
benzoll 25 Jun, 2017 @ 2:42am
Cool. :chirp: :highlvl:
Xena  [author] 4 Jun, 2017 @ 5:51am
Hey, sorry for the late reply but the maximum number you can use for all the editable values with data modding is an integer of (2^15)-1 which is 32767 and the corpse decay time value uses seconds so thats like 546 hours long you can get as maximum.

But I'm not going to do that as every game I play theres literally 10 corpses on every couple of yards I move and on maps with a lot of bottlenecks it already becomes a carpet of corpses :p. Plus there might be a performance problem in the end when theres almost a 100000 sprites on your screen on some computers.

Ahh i get ya, yeah I'm no modder lol, I'll leave that up to you :)
Xena  [author] 1 Apr, 2017 @ 4:53pm
Ah yeah like that, obviously it's going to work then because you're altering the main .dat files. If the game gets an update they will automatically get overwritten, if you don't take a backup you cant reverse what you've done unless by reinstalling. You're not supposed to "touch" these. But yes it will work for savegames if you just move the .dat file that this mod installs from the mod folder and overwrite the one in the resources folder like you said.

It's a workaround, not a main fix as a mod has to stay in the mod folder. The main problem is that the savegame file doesn't save the data set mod we used. If the game did that, it would restart knowing it has to restart with that dataset, and not the one from the main resources folder. So yeah as I stated earlier, it's up to the developers to fix this :(

This is off the Persistent Corpses comments section, it works...but I have only tested it on Campaign.

" you have to replace your Age2HD/resources/_common/dat/empires2_x1_p1 with the empires2_x1_p1 from my non-dlc version, and empires2_x2_p1 with the one from this DLC version if you want this to work for savegames and campaigns. Make sure you backup your original files though! "

So i did the same thing with yours Xena, replaced both original files with your ones ( Massacre Mod - Expansions, and "Normal" Massacre Mod ).

Works, i saved my Campaign, quit, reload and they decay just like before, proper time...

Like i said, havent tried MP, but I'm confident.
Xena  [author] 1 Apr, 2017 @ 3:09pm
Aight, would be nice to have that fixed.
Alpharius 1 Apr, 2017 @ 9:41am
Regarding the thing not working after save and reload, i got it to work using Persistent Corpses. Will try the same method with this and get back to you...
andremc 23 Mar, 2017 @ 9:43am
Awesome, love how villagers corpses are still fresh after raiding the enemy base. Problem, BIG ONE, is that it will stop working if save and reload. Kind of :steamsad: face.

Señor Benjamin, prepare the battlefield for massacre!
Xena  [author] 4 Mar, 2017 @ 3:19pm
Glad to see you guys happy about it =) Now let's hope they keep improving Data Set mods so the saved games work and we can combine data sets etc. Cause i'm planning on working on some balance/realism mod to make units more interesting, but then you couldn't have this mod on top of it, unless I made one complete data set with this mod and the other mod. So i basically have to publish loads of different sets to give everyone all options.

But hey, they're working on it i think, and so far multiplayer lag has been improved too so its going in the right direction. Just shows how reviving old games, if done well, will always be popular and greatly appreciated.

FINALLY A MOD THAT WORKS IVE BEEN WAITING SINCE 1999 FOR THIS :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Kyks 4 Mar, 2017 @ 1:33pm
love the idea but i feel ist going to be too long.... ill give it a try !
winspector_24 4 Mar, 2017 @ 11:20am
I remember playing AoE when I was a kid and that thing happened, but it was a bug.
Foumpater 4 Mar, 2017 @ 8:12am
That sucks monkey balls. Thanks anyway for the mod, Xena!
Xena  [author] 3 Mar, 2017 @ 12:28pm
No I don't think it can be helped for now. I managed to test it myself now. The corpses' timers that are ticking when you saved, continue ticking after the load it seems, but only for the frame they were on at the save, after that all the other frames last at the normal duration. And all fresh corpses don't decay slow anymore, it seems the saving function of AoE forgets to save that we used a damn data set mod. So it's up to the developers to fix this. Sucks balls :( For now you'll just have to finish a game in one sitting I guess.
Foumpater 3 Mar, 2017 @ 8:40am
When I save a game - with the mod working - and I reload it, the mod doesn't work anymore. Can that be helped?
Izak 2 Mar, 2017 @ 9:15pm
thank you for making this, been wanting to see something like it, for a long time.
2 Mar, 2017 @ 9:06pm
start a game and then where it says expansions click on the data mod you want to use
Radd 1 Mar, 2017 @ 5:18pm
MemeLord, do you own the DLC? If not, use the vanilla version
Xena  [author] 28 Feb, 2017 @ 3:42pm
What's wrong? You sure you're using the data set when you start a game?
Lord Sperglius of Autistria 28 Feb, 2017 @ 3:16pm
I like the idea of this, but it isn't working for me at all.
Xena  [author] 27 Feb, 2017 @ 4:13am
Absolutely nothing, it's almost exactly the same. I had this mod for ages but Data Mods didnt work yet on the workshop. I was afk for too long and now someone published one before me so sad face :( But thought I'd publish it anyway in case something's bugged with the other one.
