For everyone wondering about the fix below, its not a fix to code or anything. Yknow that message that comes up saying its not compatible? It removes that. The mod works fine without doing that fix, I've just loaded a game with it and can confirm that the 2x slower has reduced online tech speed and civic speed to standard speed time.

Thats all.

@8bit From what I recall pre-GS I don't think so. You could test this yourself, though. Just make sure to do it on a new save to prevent anything goofing up.
SekerAsar 13 Mar, 2019 @ 4:46pm
@Cpt. Aborto Your profile is understandably on private so I have no other means of contact. I hope you see this.

Thank you so much for putting the effort into writing your guide to manually fix these mods. However, it seems your solution may only work partially according to other replies. It also seems that the author may have unfortunately abandoned this mod.

I hate to ask this of anyone, but since you seem to have some modding know-how: would you (or maybe another reader) be willing to recreate these mods? If your time allows, of course. It seems they are pretty widely held as a simple yet essential mod for rebalancing timing of production vs research. I know it would be greatly appreciated by myself and others.
8bit 12 Mar, 2019 @ 9:47pm
do these mods stack? Can I do 4x and 1.5x to get 6x?
TornadoCreator 1 Mar, 2019 @ 10:39am
If I knew how to fix these mods I would. These are basically necessary mods for Civ 6. The game is basically unplayable without them.
forbesyj9 27 Feb, 2019 @ 12:47am
why doesnt someone who actually cares take over these mods and fix them. they are some of the very very best available.
lataylor 25 Feb, 2019 @ 7:15am
@ Cpt. Aborto - Thank you , thank you thank you and thank you again.
ilikegoodfood 23 Feb, 2019 @ 2:09am
I have also come to realise that you'll possibly need to make yet another set for the climate change features: "Take your Time - Climate Change".
Things move way too fast on that front, and only a single advanced civ can wreck the world with ease.
alcMD 20 Feb, 2019 @ 10:16am
Hoping for an update for Take Your Time mods. The game should already have been coded like this but alas... we need your help more than ever, joshman!
Cmoanius Clintonius IV 19 Feb, 2019 @ 7:01pm
so Cpt. Aborto... it works until industrial era where civs can skip to future tec :( Canada running those offshore windturbines without researching sceintific theory hahahaha atleast they wont produce any CO2
Shaolan 17 Feb, 2019 @ 12:22am
thx for the tips :D
DoblePPlays 15 Feb, 2019 @ 2:25am
For everyone that is wondering if its compatible with GS its a Nope. BUT you can do it manually. Going to explain the steps how i made it work. First of all close your game.

1- You have to go the folder where the mod is installed. Mine is D:\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\289070.

2- There is 2 files there.
"Take your Time - Civic x<Number>.modinfo"
"TYTC2.sql"
The "Number" just depends on the version that you are using so don't worry about that.
Here you will have to open the first file so we can edit it (I recomend to use Notepad++).
DoblePPlays 15 Feb, 2019 @ 2:25am
3-After you open the file you will find a structure inside it with a lot of words that you will probably don't know! We are only going to add some things in the <Properties></Properties> so just keep up with me!.

That is mine before the update.
*BEFORE UPDATE*

<Properties>
<Name>Take your Time - Civic x2</Name>
<Description>This mod multiplies the cost of civics by two. This lets you advance through the civic tree slower so you can get more of an experience of every era. Online or Quick game speed recommended. Please read the Workshop listing for more info.</Description>

DoblePPlays 15 Feb, 2019 @ 2:24am
So, you will only have to add "<CompatibleVersions>2.0</CompatibleVersions>" before the </Properties> closes basically. And that is all! You see? It wasn't thaaaat bad! n_n
Make sure when you enter the game again that the mod is enabled.
Here you have a pic of the mod working. I have my game in spanish since i'm from Argentina. But you can see the turns number that takes to research a Civic/Tech.

Well hope you can all make it work and enjoy :)!
If you have any questions just add me and we can talk!
Don't forget to thank Josh for the mod :3!
Love you everyone♥
DoblePPlays 15 Feb, 2019 @ 1:28am
Hello! Thanks for the mods man! I used them a lot when i played this before and now i'm back to test the new dlc. Like ilikegoodfood said, can you update them? I would really love to play using them again♥
ilikegoodfood 14 Feb, 2019 @ 3:41am
The latest DLC, Gathering Storm, which came out today, seems to have broken or disabled all old mods. An update to this series would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Anthaderas 24 Jan, 2019 @ 5:41am
I don't get it, it was working perfectly until I bought all the civilizations pack DLC's. Now every time I load a save even without changing the mods configuration, Take your Time doesn't seem to work anymore, bringing me back to 1 turn for almost every techs and civics
CyberMacs 16 Aug, 2018 @ 5:45am
Thank you very much! I am very happy with this mod!

I play since the Civilization 1. And I love the tech winning (special start war with tanks when the enemy has only swordsman). But since the Civ3 the tech goes to fast. And in the Civ6 I do not need to build too much campus district, I am still a tech man.
But I missed the middle times, the middle age wars, etc... I had not time to build any middle age army, because the technology was runnig to fast.

But with your mod, I can enjoy the middle time again! Thank you very much! :)
Gopher of Pern 22 Feb, 2018 @ 3:56pm
Is there any chance you could do one for the length of ages? With the new age mechanic, ages are much shorter than the research times.
Kurnn 15 Feb, 2018 @ 3:07am
These mods works with the expansion now! The patch civ did yesterday fixed some bug that caused mods not to work!
Bishopsuey 12 Feb, 2018 @ 10:54pm
sadly this mod is leading to that issue that city states produce huge amounts of units, like 50+ or so. blocking a whole country with it. could you fix that? would be great.
Kurnn 9 Feb, 2018 @ 7:03am
These mods doesnt work after the new Path Rise and Fall.

Could you look into it please? This is by FAR the most important mod for me. Even if I only had to choose 1 mod for my games, it would be this!
Ash_With_Love 20 Nov, 2017 @ 10:24am
After loading the saved game, the speed becomes 1x. How to fix?
Kev 30 Oct, 2017 @ 3:56pm
do these work with the fall patch?
Bored Sticker 23 Oct, 2017 @ 9:45am
Doesn't work now, really hope Josh can update it :(
Koldonn 24 Sep, 2017 @ 3:03pm

joshmanisdabomb  [author] 3 Aug, 2017 @ 8:57am
@Acamori @AlyG69 Taking a look now. Haven't looked at Steam in a while.
AlyG69 2 Aug, 2017 @ 11:24pm
Does anyone have any idea when Josh is going to update these mods? Kind of cant play civ anymore without them
Acamori 31 Jul, 2017 @ 11:42am
Mods isn't work ? Any enabled mod from this collection don't effect on the game :(
joshmanisdabomb  [author] 24 Jul, 2017 @ 6:53am
@ÐλΣMΦϟ ╚╬╝ ŧroøφer It's fine. Thank you for using the mods.
Anthaderas 23 Jul, 2017 @ 2:06pm
Oh I thought it would break it if I use several at the same time, sorry for bothering
joshmanisdabomb  [author] 23 Jul, 2017 @ 4:31am
@ÐλΣMΦϟ ╚╬╝ ŧroøφer Read the screenshots and description of the mod. Activate more than one.
Anthaderas 23 Jul, 2017 @ 1:53am
Could you make more than "x5". It's not enough for me, I would like to spend a really long time at tne Antic Era ^^
Do you plan to make a "x10" or a "x20" ? ^^
joshmanisdabomb  [author] 14 Jul, 2017 @ 1:10pm
@Vinnyvedivici Thank you!
Vinnyvedivici 14 Jul, 2017 @ 11:38am
@joshmanisdabomb a thousand thanks for these mods! This is the perfect solution for what I want to play, marathon style civic/research and online production. The ability to combine multiple mods for slower research is brilliant. (2x and 3x for 6x as an example)
joshmanisdabomb  [author] 9 Jul, 2017 @ 2:43pm
@Profile Name Yes.
haydn 9 Jul, 2017 @ 7:49am
does this aslo affect the ai's tech tree
Jalapeño Pepe 4 Jul, 2017 @ 8:08am
Love this mod, 4X civ and research work best for me. I like to play with normal unit production but marathon research and civic, this mod allows me to do just that!
joshmanisdabomb  [author] 16 Jun, 2017 @ 3:52pm
@zarrazee Should work fine. Come back if you have any issues.
zarrazee 16 Jun, 2017 @ 2:10pm
Looks like a great mod. Does it work OK with the spring patch? Thanks.
joshmanisdabomb  [author] 14 May, 2017 @ 4:39pm
@BOT Goat If I ever get to release my new version, it'll be included in there.
BOT Goat 14 May, 2017 @ 4:23pm
Could you make one of these for great people? I'd hate to be in the classical era earning a general that gives me a free infantry.
joshmanisdabomb  [author] 1 May, 2017 @ 6:00am
@weeb Cheers John.
Momo Belia Deviluke 30 Apr, 2017 @ 5:09pm
fancy danky mods you got here
Splitsie 20 Apr, 2017 @ 3:39am
This is such a great way to mod these settings - pure genius! Thanks joshmanisdabomb!
A E S T H E T I C 11 Apr, 2017 @ 4:27am
This is what fixes the game.
Everything went by so fast and it wasnt enjoyable at all, but this makes it perfect.
Mazzini 29 Mar, 2017 @ 8:34am
That s nice, primarly because if you have Emperor as given example, since you want to scale bonuses with "it s a pc"attitute, while "the not-AI is human, so he has wider intellingence"; then the AI gains Medieval at 0 AD and Industrial at 1000 AD.
So that is fine to match with Emperor, thank you
Mark 28 Mar, 2017 @ 4:16am
Thanks for this. It really annoys me that its possible to industrialise in the 1200's in CIV. I know this wont stop the ability to choose, but at least it will help slow it down.
