The dumbells should explode when they're dropped, nothing too flashy, say a simple small gray effect accompanied with the sound of metall crashing against a rock. Then for an unusual effect, the explosion could be colorful or vivid flash of pride.

It's good but if you notice the heavy stays almost completely T-Posed until he shifts his arms, and the very little movement that goes throughout his body is defused at his stomach creating an uncomfortable feeling in my opinion. If you could make it more... open... Yeah, lets go with open, then it'd be a lot better.
