This would be one of the best mods around when it comes to decreasing arbitrary BS of RimWorld :]
Not from me anytime soon, I'm afraid - I'm swamped with Life and haven't even learned the B18 changes yet. But as with Zedrakis's B18 - if another modder wants to 1.0 it, go for it; just leave the original credits in somewhere.
Or is that a pipe dream?
Thank you very much!
You may edit the mod and share your version, but please retain the original credits on your changed version (and credit yourself for edits too). Thanks!
Also yes to the x5 or x10 ones, I hate when cooks have to prepare plates 1 by 1 instead of batches...
* I'll update here when A17 is live. I do not believe that the A17 update will break A16 games, other than the fact that you may have to override the version incompatibility. A copy of the A16 release will still live at https://github.com/Tammabanana/Travel-Rations--MREs/releases
* Vanilla has added a recipe for Packaged Survival Meals (analogous to Lavish Meals), so the question of a third-tier MRE is now moot. (Though maybe I need to add a 5x recipe? Will look at that.)
* I'm reducing the stack size of the mood debuffs from 3 to 1, so pawns will be less unhappy on a long-term diet of these things. That might be OP for non-caravan use, though, so we'll see. What do you think?
* Changes to beauty and market value to match/balance vanilla changes to those stats on meals.
Love the artwork.
I personally don't think they should take longer than regular meals but I'm guessing ingame it doesn't seem that bad.
Realistically, my suggestion is this: Perhaps maintain it as is for this mod, but also create a Vegetable Garden compatible mod in which you can also create MRE's with goodies that give a mood boost/minor joy boost, to offset between the acceptable food of the MRE and the boost from the goodie itself (seeing as they all an average of 40/45% joy boost upon consumption, so maybe drop it to 25%?)
@ Tammabanana, it depends how you want to go with it. One way to go is the fact that the game just assumes certain things are magically added, such as spice to fine and lavish meals. So you could just assume goodies are already there.
The other way you could go is, as you said, a patch with Vegetable Garden in which the meals require 1 goodie (Not sure how exactly you'd code that, but there are multiple sweets like Hard Candy and Taffy and such.).
(Continued)
I wonder if a goodie-laden MRE might be better off as a patch to Vegetable Garden, where goodies exist. I also wonder - vanilla Survival Meals already have a 0 mood effect. I haven't looked much into which mods that add recipes for those, or how. Maybe that's the appropriate output of a meat+veggies+goodies recipe?
@XeoNova: Holy cow, I don't know how the Gourmet trait works. I'll have a look.
But, um, probably not soon, because I am slow.
Any idea How the JTF2 is faring for recruits?
@Hansag Comical, but I dobut it should be -10, considering that raw food is -7 and nutrient meals are -4
If you were to eat a simple MRE though that was just the meal, a drink packet, crackers, the terribly bitter espresso coffee, and other rough items without the above mentioned goodies, yea, it'd definitely be a mood-killer.
1. We considered that, but the modder with experience eating MREs strongly suggested that they were by no means lavish. Their omission here is deliberate, but feel free to tinker with your copy of the mod to add them if you want.
2. Yep, that's from one of SeveralPuffins' mods - "Rumours and Deception", I'm pretty sure. I should make more of an effort to omit other people's stuff from my screenshots, I guess, but I tend to mod-test within the game I'm currently playing, and... and... I just can't live without them! (I highly recommend all of SeveralPuffins' mods.)
2. In the screenshot, it says 'Winters told lies about me,' is that from a mod? If so, which one?
