Excelent mod idea, but unfortunately doesn't seem to work anymore in 1.3. Very strange, all other features work, but you can't add MREs to colonists food assignments and they provide no nutrition when force eaten.

i'm wondering if this mod will work for 1.3, I just don't know if its been updated for 1.3 yet, since I have no comments of it being updated. No pressure, just wondering.

Jesus Christ. Once I will get back to modding, I'll update this and probably share.
This would be one of the best mods around when it comes to decreasing arbitrary BS of RimWorld :]

@Thundercraft

Not from me anytime soon, I'm afraid - I'm swamped with Life and haven't even learned the B18 changes yet. But as with Zedrakis's B18 - if another modder wants to 1.0 it, go for it; just leave the original credits in somewhere.
Thundercraft 2 Nov, 2018 @ 9:11am
Any chance that we'll one day see an update for 1.0?
Or is that a pipe dream?
E_T 11 Sep, 2018 @ 12:06pm
B19?
Tammabanana  [author] 16 Feb, 2018 @ 6:49pm
@zedith Please keep the original credits in somewhere, but otherwise go for it! Thanks!
Zedrackis 10 Feb, 2018 @ 7:47pm
I forked TammaBannana's github distro and made the changes for B18. I won't upload to steam unless the author ok's it. https://github.com/Zedrackis/Travel-Rations--MREs

Any chance you will update this for A18 / B18? This mod makes caravanning long distances that much easier.

I love the `this stuff is so heavily processed, it is awful` approach!!

Thank you very much!

@Win_XS: If you want to share as-is, the github link - https://github.com/Tammabanana/Travel-Rations--MREs/releases - is a place non-Steam users can download it. I've also posted that link on the Ludeon forums already.

You may edit the mod and share your version, but please retain the original credits on your changed version (and credit yourself for edits too). Thanks!

I love this mod!Can share it?

Love this mod, I use the jerky one for early stages and this one for later game and they're a must.

Also yes to the x5 or x10 ones, I hate when cooks have to prepare plates 1 by 1 instead of batches...

A17 status report:

* I'll update here when A17 is live. I do not believe that the A17 update will break A16 games, other than the fact that you may have to override the version incompatibility. A copy of the A16 release will still live at https://github.com/Tammabanana/Travel-Rations--MREs/releases

* Vanilla has added a recipe for Packaged Survival Meals (analogous to Lavish Meals), so the question of a third-tier MRE is now moot. (Though maybe I need to add a 5x recipe? Will look at that.)

* I'm reducing the stack size of the mood debuffs from 3 to 1, so pawns will be less unhappy on a long-term diet of these things. That might be OP for non-caravan use, though, so we'll see. What do you think?

* Changes to beauty and market value to match/balance vanilla changes to those stats on meals.
IndustryStandard 3 Mar, 2017 @ 9:39pm
110% better than the MRE mod I made for A14
Love the artwork.
I personally don't think they should take longer than regular meals but I'm guessing ingame it doesn't seem that bad.

Realistically, my suggestion is this: Perhaps maintain it as is for this mod, but also create a Vegetable Garden compatible mod in which you can also create MRE's with goodies that give a mood boost/minor joy boost, to offset between the acceptable food of the MRE and the boost from the goodie itself (seeing as they all an average of 40/45% joy boost upon consumption, so maybe drop it to 25%?)

@ Gloriousrussian, I unfortunately wouldn't have the slightest idea. We hear mixed rumours here and there, but nothing actually reinforced with anything resembling fact, other than they're always looking for anyone good enough to join their ranks. Don't think that'll ever change though.

@ Tammabanana, it depends how you want to go with it. One way to go is the fact that the game just assumes certain things are magically added, such as spice to fine and lavish meals. So you could just assume goodies are already there.

The other way you could go is, as you said, a patch with Vegetable Garden in which the meals require 1 goodie (Not sure how exactly you'd code that, but there are multiple sweets like Hard Candy and Taffy and such.).

Tammabanana  [author] 12 Feb, 2017 @ 4:10am
@[Recon]: I've been considering it. But the vanilla recipe for "fine" is just meat and veggies, not goodies - does that justify?

I wonder if a goodie-laden MRE might be better off as a patch to Vegetable Garden, where goodies exist. I also wonder - vanilla Survival Meals already have a 0 mood effect. I haven't looked much into which mods that add recipes for those, or how. Maybe that's the appropriate output of a meat+veggies+goodies recipe?

@XeoNova: Holy cow, I don't know how the Gourmet trait works. I'll have a look.

But, um, probably not soon, because I am slow.

Any idea How the JTF2 is faring for recruits?
XeoNovaDan 15 Jan, 2017 @ 6:17am
Convenient, another piece to the travelling jigsaw, OK! Will there be a patch for the 'Gourmet' trait from the Psychology mod? Should be no more than a few extra bits of XML

@Hansag Comical, but I dobut it should be -10, considering that raw food is -7 and nutrient meals are -4
[Recon]The Famous Zombie Hunter 14 Jan, 2017 @ 4:05pm
@ Tammabanana, as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, I can confirm that MRE's are in no way lavish. However, they aren't terrible either. Perhaps rebalance them to 0 for a fine one and -2 for a simple one? The standard ones used in the Canadian Armed Forces, along with the meal, also often come with a chocolate bar/chocolate protein bar, delicious breath mints/chewing gum (Ironic as we're not allowed to chew gum in uniform), a delicious yogurt protein drink, and other goodies.

If you were to eat a simple MRE though that was just the meal, a drink packet, crackers, the terribly bitter espresso coffee, and other rough items without the above mentioned goodies, yea, it'd definitely be a mood-killer.
Tammabanana  [author] 14 Jan, 2017 @ 6:18am
@Choppytehbear:

1. We considered that, but the modder with experience eating MREs strongly suggested that they were by no means lavish. Their omission here is deliberate, but feel free to tinker with your copy of the mod to add them if you want.

2. Yep, that's from one of SeveralPuffins' mods - "Rumours and Deception", I'm pretty sure. I should make more of an effort to omit other people's stuff from my screenshots, I guess, but I tend to mod-test within the game I'm currently playing, and... and... I just can't live without them! (I highly recommend all of SeveralPuffins' mods.)
Hansag 14 Jan, 2017 @ 1:49am
PREs - Paste Ready to Eat; Nutrient Paste, now made even better ^_^ (-10 mood, or why not Mmmm, rotting PREs for -20) :D
Choppytehbear 13 Jan, 2017 @ 1:38pm
1. Can you make Lavish MRE's that have no mood debuff?
2. In the screenshot, it says 'Winters told lies about me,' is that from a mod? If so, which one?
APasteyNinja 11 Jan, 2017 @ 10:35pm
@goldclaw07 Yeah i gotta agree. Some of the best food I've ever had was ironically post 2001 MREs. But fuck most vegetarian menus. Those are absoluely foul.
goldclaw07 9 Jan, 2017 @ 6:59am
not really the current MREs actually arent bad some are down right good only major complaint is the penut butter paste and bread density
VividFlash 8 Jan, 2017 @ 11:44pm
sounds interressing. Maybe a bit op tho. Mood debuffs to small maybe?
