I'd prefer the former one , the grouping is better , but I personally think that it would be the best if it goes like this:
Nick——Frisk
Coach——Sans
Ellis——Papyrus
Rochelle——Undyne
L4D2 characters as Frisk and his/her friends
Bill——Asgore
Zoey——Toriel
Louis——Asriel
Francis——Chara
L4D1 characters as the Dreemurr family.(Just swich Nick and Louis in the older version)

how do you get your characters to BE undertale characters?

It should be in Program Files (x86), which should be under Program Files.
An even easier way to get to the L4D2 files is by right clicking on the game, selecting properties, and then "Browse Local Files..." under Local Files.
The Addon folder would be in the folder left4dead2.
And then, within the workshop folder of the addons folder, keep scrolling until you find the picture used for this addon, copy the file that shares it's name (should be right next to it) and paste it in the regular addon folder.

Have you tried putting the addon in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\addons"?

Simply downloading the addon on workshop without putting it in the folder won't allow the rename to work.

Really, it depended on weither or not you were going to make a rename for Alphys.
Now that I know you aren't, I can modify this addon so that there's a rename for Alphys. (Which means bye-bye to either Papyrus or Frisk. Probably the latter)

Still can't wait to use it when the Bill - Asgore skin comes out, since I've been staying away from the Left for Dead that isn't L4D2 side. since it would be a bit odd to have reskins on all but one. Even it is a bit of a unfished mod with the Undertale skins coming out. Let's just hope there's a Flowey Reskin of the gnome with him in a pot since I don't really see him as a skin with Asriel alread around.

Does this stem from the fact that I used the Ace Attorney font on the preview image?

Is it just me or do I wish that someone would change the font to Undertale's? Specifically the menu font, not the logo font. I tried doing it once but it didn't work....
