does anyone know how to make an 8-bit game and make your own characters
noobk2  [author] 15 Jun, 2019 @ 1:45pm
@Shoninya No unfortunately I have not messed with anything RTP in a very long time. These days I play around with making my own 16x16 tileset that I play around with in MV. I'm opposite of you, I can find some nice moments of creativity for mapping, I can not write worth a lick! Here is some recent work https://i.imgur.com/bGopEpM.png . But I could not write a backstory for a character to save my life.

Nachopithecus 19 May, 2019 @ 7:39am
Hi thanks a lot for the effort!! Can we use this in our commercial projects with proper credit?

@Hobby_goat17 I don't own Asperite so I can't speak to that one. I use Pyxel Editor for my work. But for this map back I used photoshop to do all of the edits and tileset assembly. But everything I did in Photoshop, besides the gabbled roofs, you can do in Pyxel Edit, a much cheaper program. I'm almost sure you can probably do it in Asperite too. I'll have to grab the software sometime and check it out. I will do my best to make a video and throw it up on YouTube with my process. It's all really simple. If you have not already Driftwood Gaming probably has some older tutorials involving tilesets and their assembly. Diftwood has told me I should make some videos of my work, guess I'll have to get on that! Feel free to add me on steam if you want to ask me any questinos.
CaroShio0083 30 Oct, 2017 @ 12:21am
Well Asperite has its online manual that doesn't help me much, there absent unless look for them through search area but zero videos pop up so, that bothers me why I bought it, My paint.net that program was pretty good it has layers, but I am not certain if I can make into sprites I have no idea, Other program pixel editor offline was from tutorial I was watching how to make animated grass, and trees or sprite sheets, Even though I am not there yet, I kind in need of tile set easy to make sort program. I like to do art you know just computing what I want isn't going very well not sure if same for everyone else. Thanks if you can help me, if you can't we are all in same boat.
noobk2  [author] 29 Oct, 2017 @ 7:27pm
I only say because I threw my project https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1170696640&searchtext= up on steam recently with my custom tileset. And I might make some more YouTube videos around the project.
noobk2  [author] 29 Oct, 2017 @ 7:14pm
What are things you would be interested in seeing @Hobby_goat17 in the tutorial. I know you made the general question, I'm curious about things you would like to see within the tutorial. Are you more curious how to use the software you listed? Or how to actually draw the sprites? :steamhappy:
CaroShio0083 29 Oct, 2017 @ 7:05pm
thanks for maps is there tutorial somewhere that help ppl to make their own tileset?
Types programs I have are Asperite, My paint.net , and Pixel editor offline type not sure if I can get anywhere making anything currently.
kainen02 22 Sep, 2017 @ 11:47am
Thanks man!
noobk2  [author] 22 Sep, 2017 @ 10:19am
Noobk is fine. I only used the 2 because the name was already taken.
noobk2  [author] 19 Aug, 2017 @ 8:31pm
@Daddy Derek You are correct that those maps will only work with those tilesets. But the project itself was also a way to distribute some of my edits of the RTP tilesets for other people to use. Not necessarily the edits that are just pushed around to break the grid, those are very easy edits that anybody can do. There are other edits though like clumping edits, roof edits, and some other things.. You can always just grab what you want and create your own tileset. It's as easy as copy and paste m8. :)
DADDY DEREK 19 Aug, 2017 @ 8:09am
Nice maps, but I think it's a shame you didn't use the given tilesets but instead created your own which can basically not be used for anything else than exactly the maps you've made.

thx bro
noobk2  [author] 28 Mar, 2017 @ 11:18pm
@Kermit the Frog: Using an image editor. I used Photoshop in this case. Just grab one of the assets and paste it over the other on different layers. Resize and move them around until things look correct.
Miku BMW 28 Mar, 2017 @ 10:56pm
How did u make those tables?
kepler-186f 24 Mar, 2017 @ 11:05pm

I love you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kumachan77 30 Jan, 2017 @ 5:40pm
Dritwood games made a tutorial at https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=UUJH5XV4YrFDwhdbX4VISqUQ&v=ugkvoOxXeTw

Please subscirbe for his other amazing videos!
noobk2  [author] 26 Jan, 2017 @ 8:22pm
@etemien that is a bit of a tough one, the project is buried in your steam folder I beleive. I will ask driftwood if he can do a quick tutorial because I'm sure it's a long path to find it. I'm on a Mac and when I first subbed to other people I could not find it either.
eternien 26 Jan, 2017 @ 10:08am
I suscribe but i have a silly question.
Where to found the maps ?
Tumbling Cat 24 Jan, 2017 @ 10:30pm
Nice of you to make this for new designers. :D
Make sure to edit these to look unique for your own games all ;)
devoidofskill 24 Jan, 2017 @ 4:47pm
nice
mhmerno 22 Jan, 2017 @ 3:32pm
That's weird. I didn't see those videos before. Thanks!
noobk2  [author] 22 Jan, 2017 @ 2:14pm
@Flunky Gamer & Emoji named person... In the pictures and videos in the description up top is a video to one of Driftwood Gaming's Tutorial videos on using maps and assets from other people and adding them to your project. That should be able to help you out. If that does not Driftwood has a couple more videos I think about transferring maps from project to project.
Flunky 20 Jan, 2017 @ 1:04am
how do i apply to the game
mhmerno 18 Jan, 2017 @ 3:33pm
These are so cool! But how do I have them in the game? When I right-click the maps and click "load" I don't see them.
noobk2  [author] 3 Jan, 2017 @ 11:29am
Forgot to add that in the images I have also included Driftwood gamings Importing Maps Tutorial for those who need help with getting the maps into you're project.
noobk2  [author] 3 Jan, 2017 @ 11:24am
In the current update (as of 1/3/2017) I updated some of the older tilesets and maps to fix some issues. Those changes are noted in the change log. Happy RPG making! As usual any issues just report them here so I can work on fixing them for the next update.

Hope you luck, both you and your fiancé. Please thank her for becoming a nurse. I am crippled and been in many hospitals. Nurses work hard and I greatly appreciate them.
noobk2  [author] 2 Jan, 2017 @ 1:58pm
@MC Monster Thank you for the kind words, even if you don't use them for anything maybe they can give you some inspiration for another project.

@mara-vertin Thank you as well! :steamhappy:

As for the map pack I will have more soon. I'm working on a dungeon map right now but it's pretty big. I wanted to get the initial release out before the holidays started getting thick because I knew I would not have time at that point. I'm also fixing to grab a second job, my fiance is starting nursing school so she won'y be employed for the duration of that!
Norman Osborn (Presumed) 2 Jan, 2017 @ 11:22am
These are some neat maps. I probably won't actually end up using them, I'm afraid, but I'd like to show my support by subscribing anyway. ^u^
mara-vertin 2 Jan, 2017 @ 9:34am
Wow. You're really good at mapping. I especially like the marshes town. <3
Thanks for sharing.
MarcusC 31 Dec, 2016 @ 6:04pm
You have 2 copies of MV running. You will need to launch the 2nd copy from outside Steam. a shortcut to its exe or from windows explorer. Then copy from 1 and paste into the other the maps you want.
bongwater cowboy 31 Dec, 2016 @ 5:38pm
how do i enable these?
Driftwood Gaming 30 Dec, 2016 @ 12:51pm
Noobk has been making maps for people for over a year now. He's a cool guy and I like his maps.
noobk2  [author] 29 Dec, 2016 @ 1:52pm
@MarcusC Certainly! Wish I would have thought of that in the first place.
MarcusC 29 Dec, 2016 @ 1:39am
Could you add to your description how many maps and of what types they are please. That would be helpful. :)
