I will make Challenge Terrains when I'm able! I promise, but I need a solid, reliable way to make them the way I want. I want people to be able to select their difficulty level, I want the game to start from Day 1 and I want people to have the starting capital they're supposed to, not just whatever I've left over. I want to be able to create them without a budget, or time constrains.
Thank you again for trying to help me achieve this with these ideas. It means a lot to me that so many of you try to help me out! But I hope that you can understand why I'm not trying to make them at current! :)
((Damned Steam Comment Word Limit! :P))
I really want to be able to make Challenge maps for people but the maps I have released so far take on average about 4-7 hours of work. Considering that I blew through the initial challenge mode budget in a matter of minutes (Seriously, I'm not making that up. Start a challenge map and try to dig a lake!) when I attempted to make one, the amount of money needed would be insane. That, plus the fact that I'm not really a good Planet Coaster player in terms of what I *should* be doing. I've spent 95% of my time playing this game building blank terrains for the workshop. Because that's what I enjoy doing the most! :D
I'm hoping beyond hope that there will be an update that allows me to save Sandbox Parks as Challenge Mode maps, or a Scenario Editor, or some less time-inducing, future proof way of doing it outside the game via file management. At present I just can't justify attempting to make them! Please understand that I want this as much as everyone else, but I want it done right.
Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate the feedback and suggestions!
I had actually considered doing this because of how many people really want the Challenge Mode terrains. I sat down to work out how to do it and this method crossed my mind. In theory it is doable but in practice the whole process is too long-winded and drawn out to essentially have a save game with a budget for terraforming, stuck on whatever difficulty I picked when I started the map and stuck in one specific level style, Alpine, Tropical etc. Then there's the problem that I may get half finished and run out of money. Or finish and still have millions left over, which would render the whole "challenge" mode pointless.

Haven't had the time to try it out though...
Also this type of thing needs its own tag on the workshop
I'm hoping to get back into making some more with the larger maps at some point but I'm really not feeling the desire to do it at the moment. I've tried a few times but get a little ways into the park and then lose interest and it stops being fun :(
I'm really hoping that when it launches and gets a large influx of new players and creators we'll see some fantastic Starting Terrains made by others!
This is what I desperatly need to really have fun in this game
I hope you create some for the larger maps at some point, but until then I will happily stick with these
Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. They were a great motivation to me whilst creating these terrains. I hope that when the game is released someone with the same enthusiasm and drive that I originally had creating these comes along to begin work on the larger maps!
I won't be making any more terrains at present as I'm just feeling way too miffed about it. Sorry.
