I'm getting weird behavior out of this mod that I didn't before; factions that have a chance to spawn goggles will now ALWAYS spawn them. This causes all tech hunters to wear ashlander goggles, which looks particularly bad on skeletons. Afaik this isn't caused by a mod conflict; my modlist is fairly small and I have very few other cosmetic / equipment mods.
Krastynio 1 Jun, 2022 @ 1:28pm
hey man good mod, i was trying it but i noticed that if i have it enabled i loose the crafting knowledge of them (bought it via blueprint..) does this mod add new blueprints? or require an import maybe?
Banard 19 Mar, 2022 @ 9:43am
@ Aeram ty for the portrait update tip.Really appreciate it. Regarding the visual glitch of the ashland goggles. Why settle for 95% go for perfection! I agree its minor just us poor OCD folks that suffer.
Aeram  [author] 18 Mar, 2022 @ 6:46pm
Glad you like it, the visual glitch of the icon is literally due to the fact that the icon is a png image of it item, and changing the dimensions of it in the inventory screen also warps it. Only fix for that is to change the png itself, but I didn't find it to be really a giant deal. As for the portraits, belt slot items and backpacks do not update the portraits, but shirt, hat, and undershirt does, all you have to do is take off their shirt and put it back on and the portrait will show them goggles just fine.

Ty, love small edit mods. Two small bugs, i can confirm spacefiddle comment from a year ago. The Ashland Goggles has been stretched with a distorted icon.

The 2nd is the visuals on the portraits. My 2nd squad in town that just have goggles with no hats appear to be wearing no headgear in the portraits.

FYI i finally remembered I had this and tracked it down lol.....

The square goggles have a normal icon because they were left at 1 height, just made to 2 width to fit into the belt slot. However for some reason the Ashland Goggles were made into a 2x2 square icon/inventory size, so they have this weird distorted icon. And also it can't be "fixed" by any mod coming after it, since having 1 height is vanilla setting and so the change to 2 height overrides any mod that leaves it at 1 height.....

Glorious!
Although another way to do it is to add the goggle mesh to the hat mesh, but that is mendou...

Thank you very much for sharing this!

Do you know why a mod might not work with Genesis?
Aeram  [author] 17 Apr, 2020 @ 1:56am
Unfortunately you can only equip one item per slot when it comes to clothing, it is hardcoded in the game and not possible to do that, sorry.
TFTEnthusiast 12 Apr, 2020 @ 12:32pm
is it possible to make them 2x1 in the inventory to make them usable with the lanterns? or would that be easier said than done.
Aeram  [author] 29 Feb, 2020 @ 12:48am
the only thing it does is effect some of the npcs wearing specifically the goggles, due to the mechanics surrounding the belt slot, it will never conflict or make the npcs behave any different from other mods, even ones that effect the stats of the goggles.
SlothOfDoom 27 Feb, 2020 @ 12:56am
I prefer this not to alter the NPCs equipment or how they behave. Does it?
Eddy63 3 Feb, 2020 @ 12:04pm
I dont know, I was wondering this myself, but I checked all my mods but cant find any which adds ancient technology. Can't find much about it online either. But since its putting those square google into the hat slot I assumed that was newly added vanila tech. Nevermind
Aeram  [author] 2 Feb, 2020 @ 9:21pm
I'm not sure what youre talking about? is that a different mod? this mod edits the only 2 goggles in the game, anything else added is not from the vanilla game.
Eddy63 2 Feb, 2020 @ 1:41pm
would it be possible for you to mod the "square goggles" (ancient technology) to be 1x2 instead of 1x3 item wide and equipable in the belt slot? Otherwise I have to use the hat slot for that one.
Aeram  [author] 28 Sep, 2019 @ 8:21pm
I personally haven't noticed any difference between the nobles having terrible view range, they still see you from quite far away, and still hit you quite effectively if you decide to stand still. If you really wish to have the goggles be a separate entity, its not too hard to edit my mod and duplicate the goggles to have one that's head only aswell.
Skrymaster 28 Sep, 2019 @ 12:41am
Honestly I've not been able to find a belt mod that adds the 2 goggles as separate items, and only goggles. More belt items adds them, but adds a whole bunch of other crap too, that I don't want. This mod actually impacts the game experience a bit, noble hunters are SIGNIFICANTLY less dangerous with this mod on, as they don't actually wear their stormgoggles, causing their view range to be crap, thus no longer effectively aggroing and being all around scumbags as they usually should. Other less impactful changes: most nobles no longer have their iconic smug look with goggles on, the Hounds leader no longer has goggles equipped, etc.

@Gary the fog mask small is most likely from this mod:

A great mod if you don't want the extra belts in More Belt Items v2.0 by Baby Shark
Aeram  [author] 26 May, 2019 @ 8:17pm
This mod doesn't have anything to do with the masks, only the square goggles and the ashlander to keep it simple (and "balanced")
Coldsnaps 26 May, 2019 @ 6:32pm
Quick question: the fog mask small has a .38 stealth debuff, while the normal one does not. Is this intentional?
光の戦士 17 Apr, 2019 @ 4:17pm
Does the AI ever equip stuff they buy from stores? The head-only goggles could just be kept for NPCs who should spawn wearing goggles. Aside from that, almost all goggles are only ever used by the player, so there's no problem replacing all other instances with belt-goggles.
Zidzan 25 Mar, 2019 @ 5:27pm
I was afraid of that, and it sounds like a real pain to fix. If you can it would be cool to see npc's sporting the two slots, but I really can only imagine how hard it must be.
Aeram  [author] 24 Mar, 2019 @ 7:36pm
perhaps I can finally get off my ass and see if I can fix it, it seems to be a hardcoded thing where the ai refuses to spawn with belt items equipped, which is why you don't see dudes with lanterns
Aeram  [author] 24 Mar, 2019 @ 7:27pm
Theres a mod out there that "fixes" that issue, but the fix only being that the belt goggles can only be made, not purchased, and the folks who wear it have them be head only, essentially making 2 sets of the same goggles
Aeram  [author] 24 Mar, 2019 @ 7:25pm
unfortunately yes, I didn't realize that little side effect almost 2 years after I made this mod, but to be honest I haven't really found it to detract from the experience that much, more the fact the goggles don't really have much of an advantage to the ai unless they are in the great desert, and even then you deal with dudes with samurai helmets either way.
Zidzan 24 Mar, 2019 @ 6:16pm
Even though I'm pretty sure its supposed to be a "Chosen tradeoff", "Do you keep your head armored but still suffer a couple points of atk reduction using this tagelmust, or do you forgo armor to keep it up with the goggles" kinda thing, I love and use this mod all the time. My only question is, are there npcs who would normally be wearing goggles as the head piece that have lost them on account of this mod?
Tooth 19 Mar, 2019 @ 8:25am
Ok thanks
Aeram  [author] 18 Mar, 2019 @ 4:10pm
Still works yes, hasn't needed to be updated at all
Tooth 18 Mar, 2019 @ 6:13am
does this work with current version?
Aeram  [author] 3 Jan, 2019 @ 2:57pm
I tried that, changing the lantern to be 1x2 aswell, though it seems the game is hardcoded for armors to only have 1 item per slot, so combining them is sadly not possible
Boss 3 Jan, 2019 @ 12:45pm
if the orientation of the goggles was made to be 1x2 instead, would you also be able to equip a lantern as well in the same slot?
Aeram  [author] 4 Nov, 2018 @ 4:32pm
yeah, still 100% works, as long as the goggles arent effected where they are placed on the body (which it wont) it will always work, even if the values are changed on the goggles themself
Immaluckez 4 Nov, 2018 @ 8:12am
Is it still updated ?
Kuroodo 26 Jul, 2018 @ 2:22pm
I like to put lanterns on the belt slot. Is there a way to fit a lantern and goggles at teh same time?
Goensaeg 2 Jul, 2018 @ 11:21pm
I haven't even seen a pair of goggles. but when I do, I'll like and favorite this.
Aeram  [author] 20 May, 2018 @ 7:50pm
Yep! dont have to worry about updating it, since the goggles havent been edited for a long time by the developers
Mister Oogway 20 May, 2018 @ 2:21pm
Looks good! Does this still work well with the latest version?
MidnightCoffee 27 Feb, 2018 @ 2:14pm
Just as a note, the belt does have a small use currently. You put the Lantern of Radiance in it.
Pusma 10 Jul, 2017 @ 5:47pm
Got it working. Don't have goggles in inventory when loading mod.:steamfacepalm:
Pusma 9 Jul, 2017 @ 6:28pm
crashed my game instantly
VascularityComplex 16 Apr, 2017 @ 12:11pm
That was fast, Thanks my dude!
Aeram  [author] 14 Apr, 2017 @ 3:40pm
@VascularityComplex Done!
VascularityComplex 14 Apr, 2017 @ 2:20pm
Are the Ashlander Storm goggles going to get patched in?
Draa 7 Mar, 2017 @ 6:16pm
@Space Cowboy You can get them in Worlds End. And I can finally wear them with a helmet. Yay.
Radd 5 Mar, 2017 @ 10:50pm
No idea where to even get goggle, it looks cool
Aeram  [author] 14 Jan, 2017 @ 8:14pm
Thanks guys! the belt slot is going to be used later on as a lantern slot, once they get them working... but for now they are extremely glitchy
dq_177 14 Jan, 2017 @ 5:03pm
This is a pretty good mod idea.

Still wondering what the point of the 'belt' slot is.
