Or maybe it's just the lips that just don't look right. *shrugs*, hopefully that can help in some way!
1. Thanks for the feedback, and you are correct when you say that they are just base colors (+ a noise filter) but honestly I'm not sure what else to add for textures. Most of the colors for the TF2 characters are flat with a gradient from the bottom going up, and the reference images I've taken from the comic [www.gomoodboard.com] don't really tell me much about what else I could add.
2. Nope.
Critique: The textures are SO BLAAAAND. The models are AMAZING and the HWM is great, but the textures look just like base colors only.
Question: Do you have interest in creating custom models? With adequate references of course.
@BlondeLombax, The teeth mesh are actually taken from the TF2 models so it's pretty much the same mesh, just textured differently (believe me, I would like it to be the same texture, I just don't know how it's been UV mapped on the TF2 models so I've had to manually retexture it). Good luck on your model!
This model in particular is great: you can just see Darling's weasely looks the moment you start to work on posing his face. The colors fit, and it's all around perfect. Well done!
I'll probably rework on those things if and when I get time/motivation. If I do make another model, I'll keep these tips in mind.
1) Lip corners should look more connected and also have bump for slight wrinkling.
2) Since he has aged, might be a good idea to try out some facial wrinkles, as well as wrinkles made by TF2 characters in their stretch and compress material versions. If you know how those work, then this model will look twice as better.
3) Back of the head should look closer to what maskless spy has, or at least shouldnt look connected to the skin based on the length of his hair. You may want to try some textured shading to help out.
These don't just apply to this model, but all your other models. Can I see most of your models as these comic characters? Kind of, but they feel like they could be more generic and thus apply for other characters as well. I'm just being honest.
He's in the comics for TF2.
