You can change the portrait if you edit the mod files. Go to your steam folder, then SteamApps/workshop/content/308173/745145714/Resources/Scenarios/Warlord/warlordfactionscreen.lua, then find the part that says "objportraits/jim" (line 64). You can change that to any existing general portrait or even a file of your own; if you want to use your own .png image, just drop it in the same folder and change "objportraits/jim" to "FILE:/Resources/Scenarios/Warlord/OMGOPWAIFU.png"
