My friend and I have been figuring out these mods and have gotten stuck on here, it appears the API doesnt work anymore, we somehow got to a page that seams to work with all the rates on there but nothing works still, is this outdated?

I'm not sure if I've been pasting it incorrectly recently, but the link to access the exchange rates hasn't been working for me as of late. It keeps talking about an access key.

Still a great module, even if the lights remain red
I haven't tried "Tweaks" yet

Thanks mate!:steamhappy:

manudp you need to get the mod called "Tweaks" and change the setting "Fix Foreign Exchange" in it.

Leds never turn green! Please help!

Hey Perky, my mod Tweaks changes things about your modules. Here's the changes it makes:
- Centering the module's model (Foreign Exchange Rates and Cryptography)
- Changing the URL it uses since the old one which no longer works (Foreign Exchange Rates)
- Adding logging (Probing)

If you want me to revert any these changes or you would want to incorporate them in to the original module, please don't hesitate to contact me through Steam or Discord. Thank you for your time.

The API is broken for this module, can you please fix it? I really love this module!
Kinrah 10 Apr, 2018 @ 10:39am
Something that should be pointed out is that the online API that the module uses for green light situations is going to be removed in June, so Perky might want to make provisions for that.

Fantastic concept for a module, one of my favorites out there. Its a bit dissapointing that the module often fails to adequately query the exchange rates (when the LEDs turn red) – is there any way the likelihood of that happening could be reduced?

Honestly you shouldn't have to look stuff up on the internet

This module has created some of the most memorable moments of modded gameplay. This mechanics behind this are amazing in my opinion.

FYI, Timwi is maintaining links to the source code for modules that are posted to GitHub. This way, even if an author disappears, we have a chance to maintain the module. If you have any questions how to do this, please ask me or Timwi on discord.

Please, please do this. We wouldn't want to lose your modules if you drift away. Thanks.

There is a typo in the ID up there: you forgot the C in ExChange

Just some feedback on updating the rules for how a mod works: I had my bomb defuser blow up because you had updated the mod and manual, and I was working from a printed out of date manual. I just figured out why.

So yeah, maybe keep that to a minimum since there's no manual version verification for mods? (Fixing typos and bugs is one thing, but change of rules should probably be kept to a minimum?)

I'm not a fan of the whole internet gimmick. I don't think the expert should rely on any knowledge outside the manual, which he even does if the module doesn't get a connection since the currency codes are nowhere listed in the manual. It also makes this module basically unplayable if you want to use paper manuals and are not in front of a computer. Apart from this it plays rather well.

Complexity: moderate (low in offline mode)
Time Requirement: moderate (low in offline mode)
Rating: 3/5

Is it possible for someone to explain this via a Youtube video? I'm really stuck on this one, although it's a cool module. We keep exploding on this one :-(

Hi Perky. This module doesn't work right with the gamepad. I think Bitstim or Ben can help you fix that.

@Wristwatch4 Good idea, Thematically it would make sense if the bobm has some WiFi widget as the RJ-45 port has nothing plugged in to it. But for now I'll use that in the next update.
Wristwatch4 14 Aug, 2016 @ 1:19am
SInce the Module is connecting to the Internet, why not make it a condition that the LED's only have the ability to turn green when there is an RJ-45 port present on the Bomb? Or at least, some implementation of the RJ-45 port.

Ah it was due to a different values coming from google vs my source. I've changed the rule so you now take the 2nd digit from the left, i've tested this a bunch and it always comes out the same.
Perky  [author] 13 Aug, 2016 @ 3:47pm
Actually come to think of it, it might be a problem because the converted currency ended up being more than 4 digits long. I'll make sure that's not the case..
Bashly 13 Aug, 2016 @ 3:45pm
I'm just searching using Google search.
Perky  [author] 13 Aug, 2016 @ 3:45pm
@Bashly oh that's interesing. My source is http://fixer.io/ (note sometimes the failure to connect is just simulated by random). I've only tested play by search on google like "464 SEK in HUF" and it's worked so far. Where are you searching?
Bashly 13 Aug, 2016 @ 3:41pm
(Posting in 2 comments, because Steam says I can't exceed 1000 chars...)

I'm guessing you chose to use the 10s column to try to overcome rounding problems for differing sources of currency exchange information. It might be nice to know of your source of information though, as I've just proven (I think) that my source for 'today's exchange rate' is not valid for this module.

Other than that, I like the module. I was toying with the idea of a module pertaining to currencies; now I don't have to do it :D

I've just tried having a playaround with this. The first few times they all came out RED LEDs, and that rule looks to be just fine. Then I got a GREEN LEDs to test, and that failed for me.

If you look at these screenshots, you'll see my setup:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10007419/economics_1.png

So I believe I got the ordering right for the exchange, 464 SEK --> HUF, as there were 2+ batteries. That came to 15233 (rounded down), and the 2nd digit from the right was a 3. So I pressed 3 and that failed. Pressing 2 succeeded however.

Btw, submitting the query "today's exchange rate SEK to HUF" came out to 32.83. Doing the math came out to 15233.12, so still a 3 in the 10s column.
