Curious though, is there a way for the dimness of torches be restricted to torches and keep flashlights brighter?

No luck, but I might come back to the search.
I decided I didn't want the low light when I saw it affected the flash light as well.
I was searching for a means to actually make the flash light useful in the early game.
Something I might muck around with later.
I rarely ever run mods, but testing TanzLO and this brightness mod, both work together.
Check out TanzLO medium brightness.
Yeah, that's one of the only downsides.
