@Mabra, if the other mod alters the fossilgame/generator.lua file then they are not compatible. If its just a new item it may be compatible.

Does this work with the grandmaster brush from project redemption ?
Or mods that adds fossils ?

i mean im carrying at least 700 dirt blocks, enough weapons to kit a small armor, enough meds to heal them all, food and cash for days but i only brought 1 set of fossil tools?

Thanks for this mod, I am playing with a heavily modded game with over 100+ mods along with FU mods as well and was worried this mod wouldn't work or would brake my game. It works just fine and does what I hoped it would do. So all is good, thanks for making and sharing this mod.

Tfw you get rid of all of the hard blocks covering the fossil, yet you still fuck up because you didn't get rid of the dirt on top of it.

Hopefully this'll keep my hair in my head.

Well,I got instant fail for this one. I think I'll just go for "EZ Archeology"

thanks for making the fossil game less of a pain in the ass

@senornacho Thanks for the suggestion, but you cannot disable FU without EVERYTHING breaking... literally. I guess I'll have to do without this mod :(
senornacho  [ophavsmand] 27. aug. 2017 kl. 13:18
@Cernunnas one thing you could try is disabling all other mods but this one and see if starts working again. I don't use Frackin' Universe so I can't speak to it's compatibility with this mod.
[⌆] 𝐊𝐄𝐑𝐍 27. aug. 2017 kl. 1:20
@senornacho Oh, and this might be a bit too obvious, but just to clarify: we didn't have any other mod that messed with archeology (that I know of). Perhaps something to do with Frackin' Universe? ...since it's so big. I don't know : /

@senornacho The dedicated server has the same mods our clients do, and I always keep them updated. After posting that last comment, I went ahead and installed this mod again, tested in singleplayer and same thing... the minigame wouldn't pop up. My friend tried aswell in singleplayer in his own universe and it didn't work either. We uninstalled your mod and it worked again. Very strange... and sucky :(
senornacho  [ophavsmand] 26. aug. 2017 kl. 12:48
I don't know anything about using mods in multiplayer but maybe the dedicated server also needs the mod installed.
[⌆] 𝐊𝐄𝐑𝐍 26. aug. 2017 kl. 7:23
@senornacho Thanks for replying. I tried starting the minigame with a Master Fossil Brush on some bones, but nothing happened. I haven't tried with any other brushes though. Also, not sure if it matters, but I play multiplayer on a dedicated server. My friend and I tried in different "digging" spots, but nothing. We uninstalled this mod and it worked on those same spots... so sad, we love this mod :(
senornacho  [ophavsmand] 24. aug. 2017 kl. 15:24
@Cemunnas:
Can you be more specific, are you talking about the brush you use to start the fossil game or the brush used during the fossil game to clear away dirt? I just started a minigame with a Master Fossil Brush and used the minigame's brush to clear away dirt. I also used each of the other tools to clear away the rock and then once again used the brush to complete the minigame. Didn't have any issues.

Hmm, I suspect this is broken now. This is the only mod I've got that modifies archeology, and it used to work without a flaw some time ago. However, now when I try to use a brush on bones, it doesn't do anything.

Bless You! :steamhappy:
Fireshot 16. jan. 2017 kl. 5:16
Yeah this makes doing the fossil thing a whole lot easier.
Doctopus 28. dec. 2016 kl. 21:05
Without this mod, I wouldn't even bother with fossils. Thank you for making this man.
Weighted Sensory Kitty 9. sep. 2016 kl. 17:57
Kinda looks like the gem minigame thing from that one pokemon game, the one where you could have capture the flag with other people.
Ser Dakota 16. aug. 2016 kl. 10:58
IS this client side or server and client side?
Maledy 3. aug. 2016 kl. 9:28
I actually like the fossil minigame a lot, but the amount of tools they give you was really grating on my nerves - it seems just arbitrarily random, and often not very dependant on the current puzzle's confiiguration.

For example, sometimes I end with 5+ tools left, sometimes I use every single one of 'em, and far too often I lose simply because I was BARELY even given enough tools to even break the number of blocks the fossil is in size ffs...

This is MUCH better - thank you! :3
senornacho  [ophavsmand] 2. aug. 2016 kl. 14:19
@Phasehand: I believe this is because there are more blocks spawning now and it fuzzes the math on how many of each tool are generated. Should still be more than enough to complete any puzzle.

@RagnaWolf The Guardian: There's a formula to generate the tool counts that I modified to increase that amount. It's still randomized somewhat.

@koolieo1: I've only tested it in single-player.
countlessCritters 2. aug. 2016 kl. 13:16
Would this work as a client-side mod?
[T9k] MoleManMike 2. aug. 2016 kl. 8:12
so does it have more tools by how many brushes there are?
Phase 2. aug. 2016 kl. 5:43
Chests spawns are now much better. But the amount of tools seems to be lower, although that could just be that the last couple fossils were small/easy. I'll try to find some more to test and see.
Phase 1. aug. 2016 kl. 22:31
@senornacho: I will do so, as soon as I find more fossils.
senornacho  [ophavsmand] 1. aug. 2016 kl. 22:27
@Phasehand: I just tested this and I did get a chest to spawn after several attempts however it was right next to the fossil. I believe the issue stems from my other mod on which this one is based. I had removed some code that added extra random rocks and it might be possible that preventing those rocks from generating was making the chest spawns more rare than they should be. I used a copy of that code to create this one and forgot to add that section back. Let me know if this update increases the frequency of chest generation.
Phase 1. aug. 2016 kl. 19:42
Okay, while i like the mod it prevents chests from spawning in the minigame.
